Game Thread: *** POST-GAME *** ALABAMA 38 @ Kentucky 20

I can't believe this was considered a nailbiter.

It wasn't the prettiest win, but it was a win...in the SEC...away from home. I love it, RTR.

I thought he ran for 150 or so against Va Tech. Regardless, 140 aint shabby at all.
I just looked it up and found an article that says he did run for 150 against Va Tech... So who knows where they came up with this then. :conf2:

I might be in the minority but this game really bothered me. Based on the first four games I felt like Alabama's defense could stop anyone's run. Based on that confidence I didn't see anyone on Alabama's schedule that Alabama couldn't handle. Likewise, I felt Alabama really might be the best team in the country.

Whether it's the lack of Hightower or something else, Kentucky being able to run on Alabama (and doing considerably better offensively than they did against Florida) really bothers me. I am worried what a good running team might do against Alabama now. I suppose I just took a step back in my expectations, now I'm hoping Alabama wins some of these big games instead of expecting it. I hope it was a fluke but like the lack of Alabama's offense after the Prothro injury, the difference in Alabama's effectiveness against the run was pretty signifigant.

ive said it before and ill say it again....last week everyone was concerned about run-blocking...two weeks ago everyone was concerned about our secondary.....next week it will probably be something else...its just the nature of the game.

Spread offenses gives us fits. If it weren't for the turnovers, this game would have been real close. I wished we had a better handle on how to stop the spread. Also, kick off coverage still stinks. Way too many return yards. No style points for this game. But a win is a win! RTR!

Not the prettiest win, but 5-0. I am concerned with UK's ability to run on us and Ole Miss has better runners, receivers, and a better QB. Next week will be a nail biter.

They didn't run the spread. However, their wide plays out of the "I" and the like exposed the fact that we lack speed on the edge. Harris will be a really big help when it gets back, but that won't be until after OM...

some observations.

the turnovers were so critical, really needed them.
off line still trouble blocking inside. kentucky did excellent job against trent, and ingram when rushing inside the tackles.
special teams coverage still a major problem. they were getting excellent field position all game.
corners have trouble in coverage on deep balls. still not looking for the ball
need to get julio more involved. when you have a big time receiver, you need to get him open, and in the game.

anyway, it is still a big win on the road, and i am sure coach saban will really be getting after them for the miss. game.

Yep...we looked slower on the edge today. What's the latest on Harris. Have I missed something?

The decision on Harris' situation had been decided that he was to be suspended for 6 games, and the suspension had started with the VT game. He will be eligible to play in a game starting with the South Carolina game.
