Post game thoughts (including coaching) thread. Let's not have 50 new ones...

I don't think staff changes matter....who would want to come and be a OC or OL coach,etc.. here with Shula as head coach...knowing that the ship is sinking. I don't think no one would take a chance on Shula, or not a Big Name cordinator..they would not take the risk. JMO

I agree with your post 100%. I feel we could have used a new OL coach 4 years ago. As long as Shula is under the gun a big name OL Coach or OC would be crazy to come here unless he was promised to be HC if things with Shula do not work out. 2 issues with that, Mike Dubose (Never should have been HC), and Bill Oliver (once we was supposedly the heir apparent he started back stabbing to get rid of Stallings.)

Mike is a great guy of integrity and appears to be a good recruiter. I do not know if his ego would allow him to do it but, imagine if he were replaced and reassigned w/in the AD for a year and then return as QB coach or recruiting coordinator.

I disagree somewhat. A young, motivated, up-and-coming position coach might see the Alabama OL line job as a fantastic opportunity to show his stuff. If he's as good as he thinks he is, the line's play will improve dramastically and the team's performance will probably follow suit. If things don't work out, he's only risked a one or two year stint and will be back in the mix for another job someplace else.

If the Alabama OL job were to come open, I'm pretty confident we'd be able to get a quality coach in here. The pay at the Capstone ain't bad, either.

He fumbled the ball because he got sacked.

Wrong. A fumble is a fumble, not a sack. I know the people keeping up with stats like to think it's a sack, but let me explain a little football 101 to you:

A sack is when the quarterback gets tackled behind the line of scrimmage. It's not a tackle until the QB is on the ground, WITH THE BALL, and the next play begins at that point. If there is a fumble on the play, that means that the QB was not tackled to the ground with the ball, and therefore not a sack.

The sickening part of all of this, is that without Bama giving the Barn the ball twice inside the 20, their anemic offense would have never scored 3 touchdowns on us. Mississippi State (with their QB back healthy) was far better than the Barn. If Henig had been playing when the Barn played them, they would have lost too.

Simple solution: Fire this coach, but bring in someone good like Spurrier or Rodriguez or Petrino. As I said in my earlier post, ALABAMA IS NOT THE PLACE FOR "ON THE JOB TRAINING. PERIOD. END OF DISCUSSION".

What has Croom reported BAMA for?

The "infraction" that sticks out in my memory was that a recruiting brochure was approximately 5 millimeters too wide. I didn't even know that there were NCAA rules regarding the size of such recruiting materials, but apparently, Croom knew it and dropped a dime on us.

Crimsonbleeder, my point was that Saban's alleged activities, if made against Alabama, would almost certainly lead to an NCAA investigation here. They might look the other way for LSU, but not for us.

Re: its all shula's fault? uhm...

This is the same logic as last year, we out played them 3 quarters. Do you think AU would have played the same if they were not up 14-3? I would suggest their game plan changed. But i do agree Auburn played like **** and still won the game. Hurt Cox, best receiver out, hurt irons, hurt lester, hurt center, lol.

I have to give all you Barn fans credit: You have obviously beaten us 5 years in a row. That puts you in a large fraternity that includes Northern Illinois and Mississipi State, just to name a few. But it would be nice if every once in a while you guys would face reality and give credit to the real people responsible for your success over Alabama.....the NCAA. Tom Yeager has far more reason to beat his chest than your mental midget coach Tubby. You can also credit Bobby Lowder, who contiues to funnel money to players (this year you have 9 on "the payroll"). How do I know? Let's just say I know people in the banking business.

So beat your chest for a little while, because once we get our coaching situation under control, it'll be a long time before you beat Alabama again.

I would like to know which 9 barners are on the payroll. You don't have to give up your source or tell your name. Or at least let me guess. Blackmon? K.Irons? That young HB from Maryland? Taylor?

And what exactly would you have called down on the goal line? You saw the 2-point conversion attempt where we passed and it got intercepted. Yes the goal line stand we ran it up the gut...but there were other times (including two point conversions) where we were inside the five and did other things. The point is that coming into this game everyone knows Auburns weakness is the middle of the D-line...even the VERY biased commentators stated that. We had to believe that we could get three yards up the middle against Auburns weak interior D-line. It didn't work out...next time we were down there we tried other things. Look all the people downing Shulas playcalling I've been with you all year...but I think he let it all hang out this week and we still lost...whcih shows me that maybe it's not on him. I think he did a good job of getting our kids up when things looked bad and they kept fighting till the end. Shula won my respect tonight...that may not be worth much, but for what it's worth...my stance on him has changed.
IMO,from reading this post, your stance is the same, and your just looking for excuses to stay there.IMO, thats OK,but I saw many other things that have now pushed me over the edge the other way.His continued indecisiveness on FG,vs go for it. In fact his usual try is up the gut,no different than all year=no change in his play calling. If you wanted alittle food for thought, why did he not try a quick play action with the TE slip to the outside on 3rd and 1 at the goal. Jay Barker said last week that play is very hard to defend. He has stayed the same all year, all career and its now time to quit with the excuses and make a change.
