Predict the score: Bama vs. Duke

OK, it's Tuesday. I'm starting the thread, but I have been too busy to do my homework on Duke, so I won't post my prediction until Thursday or Friday (maw-in-law in town).
But I think Bama wins by 17 - 21 pts.
 
MD will be on a mission, so I see him getting some sacks/pressures. His presence will also allow other players more chances. I'm sure Coach Saban will call the dogs off. Cut will put pressure on the young DB's, so I say.... 42-13.
 
41-17. I give them 17 because Duke had a Top 10 offense last year and are off to a good start this year. Combine that with young secondary still learning and they score a few times.
 
For some reason, I just don't see Duke's "High-Flying Offense doing too much.

We get Dareus back, and Duke has no running game to speak of. Our D-Line can pin their ears back and go after the QB on virtually every play without consequence; our linebackers can clean up any mess that squeaks by them.

The Blue Devils won't have the time in the pocket to sit back and dissect our Defensive Backs. They'll probably get two or three big plays, like San Jose State and Penn State, but they will not be able to sustain drives. Penn State did pretty good on third and short. Duke won't see a lot of those.

It certainly could happen this week, but I've just got it stuck in my head that Arkansas is going to be the team to score the first TD against our Defense.

I hope you are right but honestly I see us giving up at least one touchdown late in this game as the reserves get some playing time and exposure. With that in mind I say...

We didn't give up a TD to the #18 ranked team in the nation, so I don't see us giving up a TD to Duke. I know the turnovers in the red zone helped, but it was still Penn State. There is no way I see Duke hanging 21 or 28 points on us like some here are saying. I mean our defense is GOOD. I think people are underestimating them!

Duke, in their first two games, has given up an average of around 40 points per game. So, I see us scoring quite a few points. Their defense isn't that good and with Ingram back I see us with about 350 yards rushing with all of our backs. Because we will be so effective running the ball, I see us churning the clock a good bit. This will keep us from running the score up. We will get more pressure on the QB with MD back on the field and I see us making adjustments in the secondary and making a few big plays there.

those were all turnovers our defense directly created/caused. that is one sign of a good defense, creating turnovers. i have a feeling we will create several vs. duke

I agree. Duke's QB may not have enough time in the pocket to find his receivers so it may be a long day for him. I haven't watched Duke play, but I know our defense is pretty dang good.
