Kennedy is a clown who has stated (and then lied about saying) that, "There’s no vaccine that is safe and effective" and claimed that covid was created to spare Ashkenazi Jews and Chinese people. He is associated with American Values 2024 and Children’s Health Defense, both active anti-vax groups. He is the antithesis of what Americans need from HHS.

Denying proven treatment to someone to satisfy one's own beliefs and curiosity was an abhorrent practice at Tuskegee and would be just as tragic and unforgivable if made US health policy toward preventative medicine. Vaccines have saved millions and millions of lives. What happens when they're gone, either through government policy or because the easily deluded have been scared away from them?

Wanting this guy in any position of authority takes "owning the libs" a bit too far.

He really needs to be rejected. He's too far out in left field for most Americans. I agree with some of the stuff he says about our food supply and our nutritional practices but most of his ideas are nuts. I think Trump picked him as political payback and won't be too upset if he isn't confirmed.

Yes, I agree.

I do like some of what he preaches and believe we would be healthier if someone leading the HSS believed likewise (regarding 'GRAS additives, food colorings, etc - long list of stuff we allow that many other countries do not), but do not think he is the answer for this position as there are too many red flags (falsehoods, even), imo.

the same as many if not most of Trump's picks, qualified to only destroy what he is getting appointed to run.

I won't be upset either as long as someone who isn't bought-and-paid-for does get that seat. We are the fattest and unhealthiest nation on earth and some people are determined to keep us that way. In any case, lost in all morass was the original point that when Dems use retarded arguments like the one I posted, they deserve to lose.

LOL, no. I packed my kids lunches so I didn't give a damn what MO did. Also, I have it on good authority that nothing actually changed (at least around here.)

I don't remember much about that except that I thought it sounded like a good idea at the time. The thing about school lunches is you have to serve something the kids will eat or you're just paying lip service to the health nuts. For the free lunch kids especially, the risk is that they don't get enough to eat overall, not that they are eating vegan at school or some nonsense like that.

The Democratic Party has lost its soul, and I am sorry to say you are big part of the reason. I am saddened to see you fall so low. Look around your neighborhood and the other poorest neighbors in the City. Focus on the least advantaged New Yorkers. They are the epicenter of the health crisis facing our children and citizens. Obesity, diabetes, and many other preventable chronic diseases can be stopped without medication.
@RobertKennedyJr is uniquely positioned to lead this charge. Your efforts to stop his appointment and the continuation of current health policies will lead to the death of many Americans. And yes, he is right to question vaccine safety and vaccine policies. The proliferation of vaccines, the timing of a child’s life when they are administered, the liability exemption for pharmaceutical companies, all need to be carefully analyzed and reassessed. And I am not referring to polio and measles vaccines nor is @RobertKennedyJr as he made clear today. The Democratic senators in the hearing today embarrassed themselves and our country with their bloviating statements and their unwillingness to let RFK speak. They were more interested in hearing their own words than getting to the truth about Bobby Kennedy. We need to wipe the slate clean with the Democratic Party. It has failed and continued to fail the American people. And I say this as a centrist American who historically supported Democrats. How low can you go?

The idea that a nominee with RFK Jr's well-documented anti-vax history can claim otherwise in such a hearing and be believed is preposterous, as is the idea that he is "uniquely positioned" to deal with America's nutrition issues. Ackman can claim otherwise all he wants, but the facts speak for themselves. Kennedy is a loon with dangerous views and there many credible experts who could "lead this charge" on chronic disease in our nation, if that's indeed what Trump wants.
