I agree with some of the earlier posts, that things under CMS regime were not as stringent as they probably should have been. Hopefully this will send a message to the other players that discipline is key and acting like a champion on and off the field is the only way to go with CNS. It will be interesing to see what (if we actually see what happens) happens with the other infractions and what suspensions if any are handed down by the coach. I think that this is one of many positive steps by CNS to get us going in the right direction....Saturday can't get here soon enough for me...RTR!!!!

The guys are getting in trouble recently because they have been breaking rules recently. You're going to have to ask them why they feel the need to act up right before the season starts.

I may have missed it but was there any indication as to when these two infractions occurred? For all we know it could've happened 6 months ago. If we've learned one thing it's that CNS isn't the kind of guy to volunteer information about disciplinary activities until he has to, which in this case is the week of the game.

This isn't all bad. Suspending two starters will set an example even if that wasn't the intent and given recent events we could probably use it. It's better that it's for this weekend's contest instead of during the meat of the schedule.

I am pretty good friends with several former LSU players that played under Coach Saban. They said it was nothing for him to just twist off at one of his assistants if that coach wasn't running a drill correctly or pushing the players hard enough. They told me that they really felt sorry sometimes for his staff because he really rode them hard, harder than the players. I guess that's why he had alot of turnover with those guys in BR.

On a sidenote, I hope the NFL made him more mellow, because I actually like his staff right now.

That's easy to understand. But ... maybe he's had a few coaches who rode him, too, making him what he is today. Maybe Saban feels he is trying to make them better by riding them so they'll one day become better head coaches. Plus, he expects his coaches to set an example for the players. I'm just glad I don't work for him.

Maybe I'm reading too much into it, but I thought this quote indicated that it had been ongoing, i.e. they had failed to comply with Saban's other forms of discipline.

"These particular players have reached a phase where punishment - taking away a game from them - is something we feel is necessary to do at this time," Saban said.

I agree. Honestly we shouldn't need our starters against WCU, no disrespect intended. Hopefully this will send a message to the rest of the team.
