do what i do and stand in front of the tv yelling the entire game. most people get tired of that and choose to watch the game somewhere else.
I never thought of that. I'm going to have to give it a shot. Next time I'm watching a Bama game at a gathering, I'll just be way-too-intense guy so everyone else will leave me alone. If that doesn't work, I'll try not bathing or getting really disgusting breath - More onion dip please.

I've added another superstition to my resume' this year. We've started off several games slow and I would get irritated, get off the couch and grab the laptop and start posting on the game thread. Now I just get the laptop and get ready because I feel like we can't possibly win if I'm not on the game thread... ain't we a sad bunch? :)
Make sure you're posting in the gamethread Saturday. If we lose, the rest of us are holding you personally responsible... I'm not kidding. ;)

If my internet connection goes down I have a backup...my 4g Verizon phone...I WILL be on the game thread barring any catastrophic event....maybe even during a catastrophic event :)

My wife sees the bBIG games as havin folks come to the house. Then I'm not bein a good host Bc at kick off im not listening to anybody or anything w/ the exception of my 9 month lil girl who will yell at the tv along with me. But its who I am and what I love so they just have to deal with it.

My folks gave us a stuffed 'BIG AL' years ago...squeeze his hand/foot and a voice yells "GO ALABAMA" and the fight song plays...this now happens every touchdown or field goal. The first year with the current round of four legged 'kids' (our dogs), my yelling during the games scared them to death...now, when they see 'BIG AL' come down from the top of my computer desk, I get that "oh crap! Here he goes again!" look from the three of them...they don't get upset any more, either...

My brother and his new wife invited me over to watch the game with them. The problem is that I don't think I can behave myself for this game. You know... yell at the TV like the refs can really hear what I'm saying and other crazy stuff like that. My husband thinks I take it too seriously. Really? Is there really a such thing as taking Bama football too seriously?

Hello people! I know I am completely off topic here, but please redirect me to the right thread (if one exists on this topic). But I will be coming down to T-town tomorrow and will ge spending the next four days there, not just to visit my brothers (Arie and Cyrus Kouandjio) but also to have a good time and enjoy the game on Saturday. The question is, who's actually going to the game and who will be tailgating? I would like to crash a couple of tailgating parties (if invited). You can inbox me if you want. Thanks and sorry for breaking this thread.

You should start your own thread sir. I'm sure you'll be welcomed at a number of tailgates. We're all wishing Cyrus a speedy recovery.

My wife was always sympathetic and somewhat amused by my "involvment" with the games. It really hit home how much it mattered one night when we were laying in the bed watching a late game. Her head was on my chest and she was just about to doze off when she perked up and said, "Why's your heart racing?" ( can't remember who we were playing but the game was getting tight...) I was attempting to stay calm and be quiet so as not to wake her....Amazing when you think about it...completely involuntary.....
God help us...We all ought to take a couple of baby aspirin before kick-off.
On an even more personal note...my hero and Uncle.....retired HS coach/teacher (Sweetwater, Ala.) just turned 80...huge fan and alumnus....He lives in New Mexico now. I'm flying there from N.Carolina to watch the game with him....can't wait...Bama football and time with family...all of whom are steeped in Bama tradition ...and proper etiquette...good as it gets..

And another thing, I don't like watching a game with someone, even a so-called Bama fan, who is not very knowledgeable about the game or that doesn't know who the players are, and are always making stupid comments or asking stupid questions. They can be a distraction from the game and tests my patience. Also, no small kids allowed during the game. God knows I love my grandchildren, but I ain't gonna play "barbie-doll" with them when the game is going on.

It's so nice to know we're "normal." I don't usually swear, but my mouth becomes loud and sailor nasty if we're upsidedown in points and I don't care who hears it. Usually I am in my own little world. My family thinks its hilarious because I can't even string the vulgarity correctly. So far this has been confined to away games when I'm home watching tv. I'm particularly worried this weekend because we'll be with friends in a skybox, some of who know me and some who don't. I know I won't be able to sit down and watch this game in a skybox, I'll be the one watching on the television. I'm thinking Xanax just in case.
You have our permission to string together whatever words you care to! I'm hoping it's going to be a joyful noise! If the folks you are with are too well behaved, ignore them 'cause they ain't right!

I'm lucky all my immediate family are Big Bama fans & come over for every game. I feed them so this keeps them busy, usually 10 to 16 people come over. Every one know that no talking about anything but the game period.
I set up the blow up Big Al, Alabama tent & a Espn gameday tent, if you want to converse, go outside, it is rare I have to say that. Usually good food lots of drinks, all kinds. Every Saturday is a huge event during season.

I tried to do the game thread once but with the I pad I type to slow, & can not follow the game.

Totally agree. I order complete isolation during big games, no kids, no discussions on the weather. Its 12 days a year. I will discuss my daughters gymnastics another time.
But those 12 days a year, If I am not at the game. I need to be alone in my man room (painted purple and gold) with a VERY select group of fellow fans around. Oh and beer.

Funny my good friend and neighbor is an ex-razorback football player. We are very close friends, but that one day a year we agreed we cannot be within 200 yards of each other. Often we go to separate states. We realize there is no point in straining a relationship.

I agree 100%... BUT at the tennercee game a man sitting by me said (durning a tv timeout) "You know I lost my brother, his wife, and they're 5 year old daughter in the tornado. He would love to be here watching this" I didn't know what to say except sorry for your loss and they're watching from above. ROLL TIDE and I will NOT be nice to any lspew fan they are the worst! EVER!

Does anyone find it hard to be hospitable during Bama games? For me, it's not a good time to make small talk or visit when the game is on... especially a big one. I'm not interested in politics or family matters or world hunger or anything else when the game is on. Even as "just a fan" my mind is on what we'll be doing when we get the ball back or how we need to adjust on defense or hoping our kicking team will manage to pin em deep.....I'll probably even be jonesing a bit for Julio Saturday for one more week of eligibility...
But i don't want to chat visit....It's sorta like a wedding or funeral...(tongue in cheek...but just barely)...it's fine to visit before or after the event, but highly inappropriate to cause distractions during the event itself...RTR

I have 32" tv with DirectTV out in the garage for games like Saturday. THere's a full-sized fridge next to my work bench for drinks. All I'll be missing is heat, so I plan to bring the small fire pit around and stoke a flame in the driveway right in front of the garage door. At times, a few BAMA buddies will come up but that's it.

This Saturday will particularly difficult because my wife is out of town and I have our 1 year and 3 year old daughters. The 1 year old goes to bed around 6:30 or so. The 3 year old goes to bed about 8:30, and I can't rightly leave her in the house unattended....so....I guess she'll bundle up and come outside with me to witness me at my worst!

I can watch games against NorthWestSouth Tech at a bar or restaurant, but usually don't. I don't get near as crazy during those games.

I don't care to be talked to during games. I'm usually watching on the living room TV with my laptop on the TF game thread. Depending on the broadcast crew, I often mute the TV and listen to Eli call the game through my earphones. My girls know to either sit and watch and learn the game or leave me alone.

My husband is a barner. If our games are on at the same time, we decide ahead of time who gets the living room TV versus being exiled to the bedroom TV.
