*** QB Alec Morris Commits to Bama ***

First thing I thought of when I saw the film was a big Danny Weurffel.

You are one of the few posters that knew of Morris and I am pretty sure that is mainly because of your hometown perspective. Just to reiterate I am very happy that Bama has a commitment from Morris. As I have said I expect him to do quite well at Bama.

I agree with you about the offensive differences between Southlake Carroll and Allen. I doubt that Morris will throw for as many TDs his senior season as McElroy did. I recently found out that Allen had a 2000 yard rusher last season, Jonathan Williams who is returning this season. Williams is a Missouri commit.

Please keep Tide Fans advised and updated on Morris this season. We would really appreciate the hometown up close and personal perspective.

II'll keep up with him alright, the only issue is actually being at the game. So far I'm going to the Allen/Cedar Hill game at SMU simply because there will be plenty of room. Actually getting into a home game at Allen is hard, at least until the new stadium is built. All the season tickets are gone and that stadium gets packed and I'm old enough to get annoyed at being squeezed into a seat.

I was talking to a co-worker Friday who is also a Bama alumn and refs HS football in TX. I asked if he was scheduled for any Allen games and mentioned their QB committed to us. His response was "did their scrimmage and I hope to GOD he had a bad day". Went on to say the crew was talking about Alec and common thread was " what the heck do we see in him?" Of course G-Mac wasn't knocking down the doors either....

Obviously he had a good showing Friday night.

Hmmm...that's strange because everything I've seen is he is playing great.

Must have been a bad day because Alec's first game was great.

Bama chose Morris pretty early in the process after the top two Bama QB prospects, who are the top two QB prospects in the country, decided to play football elsewhere. Obviously he was Bama's third choice overall. Whatever it is that CNS and Coach Mac see in him, he is the QB choice in this class. He was thoroughly evaluated up close and personal by CNS and the staff at Bama's summer camp this year. They wanted him enough to go after him even after he had committed to Wake Forest. Last season Morris threw for 2333 yards and 22 TDs with only 6 interceptions. In his first year as the starting QB he had a 64% passing percentage, 189-237, and he had 10 rushing TDs. As you said he got off to a great start this season and I think he will be just fine when he gets to Bama.

Maybe there is a good reason he's a ref and not a coach.
