QB Jacob Coker from AJ's high school has a Bama offer

As much as I applaud this kid for being a Bama fan, I dont want him to commit to us for the fact that he has a full, unconditional offer from FSU. I just dont want to get this kid if it means him losing a scholly from FSU especially if Jimbo loves him. To much of a risk.

I know what you're saying, but Coker has been committed to the Noles for a long time. I think he committed back in....June I wanna say.

EDIT: Is it true that he's in T-town on an official?

Yea and Calloway was committed to Bama for a year. Anything is possible with teenagers.

Just spoke with St. Pauls QB Jacob Coker. He says Alabama offered but he will not visit. He is shutting things down. 100-percent FSU.


I am still going to talk to him, but i think he has his mind set on FSU.

Ok, i am not trying to be a smartelec here, but a couple posts earlier a mod says he is on an official visit at UA and now we get a tweet saying he isn't even gonna talk to us .... I love how reliable recruiting info is lol

Someone (Shane Youngblood maybe) said Coker was in route to Tuscaloosa earlier today. The information just depends on who you talk to.
 
If what Andrew Bone tweets is correct, you have to wonder why we would extend an offer and basically be turned away this directly. I cannot believe that Nick would formally offer a scholly if he didnt think we at least had a chance of swaying a kid into our direction. I'm going to wait for more information to come out before I form an opinion on this one...
 
If this is true that he's solid to FSU, do we pursue another QB. Maybe CNS does want to take 2 QBs or maybe its something else. There's gotta be a reason he offered Brissett and Coker with Ely already on board. Maybe Stephen Rivers or that Coffman kid.

Rivers it going to LSU, not going to change at this point.

Sometimes I feel like Dennis Miller repeatedly telling a joke about existentialism with only a few people laughing at the joke during each show. Miller keeps telling it even though it may not be funny to everyone because they don't understand it, however to others it is hilarious.

I repeatedly say that recruiting is nothing if not a very fluid situation. There really are no certainties and situations continually change, often very quickly. Visits are arranged and cancelled all the time and sometimes even arranged again for many different reasons. The info I relayed about Coker and his father being enroute to UA for an official visit was from a credible source. It made perfect sense to me also because at this late stage of the game an official visit is usually required for the prospect to get an offer from Bama. So I posted it. Sorry it was not reliable.

Let me give you a 'possible scenario' of what 'may' have occured. This situation was in the works for a while and lets say the day before yesterday the Cokers were told you have a Bama offer at QB if you come for an official visit to UA. Then after consideration the Cokers tell the UA staff we are still committed to FSU but they are interested in exploring the offer and say they willl visit UA the next day which was yesterday. Then the info leaks somehow to Tider Insider, BOL and other recruiting sites and gets reported that Coker has a Bama offer and he and his father are enroute to visit Bama. Sometime between the time the info leaks the Cokers get in contact with FSU to tell them about the Bama visit. FSU tells them either you are a solid commit to FSU or not. They tell them if they visit Bama they will pull their offer and look elsewhere. That causes the Cokers to tell Bone what they told him and he tweets it to the fans. What happened I don't actually know but that is a very plausible scenario.

Again following recruiting is fluid, very fluid. Expect change, expect the unexpected and you will not be too disappointed. It is a tough business.

OK this is what i got from talking to Jacob yesterday...

He told me that he is solid to FSU, he also said that it was just too late of an offer. He did not want to just jump ship that late with being commited to FSU all year. I told him that we would have loved to have him and still want him.

I see him everyday, so i will be politely trying to sway him to the good guys.
 
I said Javier Arenas would be a good player, I say Coker will be a kid to Reckon with. If he stays with Fla st I really believe we lost out on a good QB. Why? Very mobile decent with touch can run out of trouble very could awareness of the field, he just looks the part to me.IMO
