Re: Would be Funny if......

There is a story out on the Internet about a HS coach in Mobile who says that he was directly involved with CDC and the recruitment of one of his student/football players. This is one of those crazy recruiting stories that you hear about every so often. The HS coach says that his student/football player is a prospect that is/was being recruited by both FSU and Bama. I am going to leave the name of the HS coach, the schools, and the names of any alleged football players in this story out of this post for obvious reasons. However it is apparent to most of us who follow recruiting closely, which players are being talked about. Please do not discuss the names of the HS coach, schools or the players reportedly involved in this reported situation. Even if you think that you know any or all of them. It is just hearsay and for obvious reasons I would not want to speculate or discuss the specifics of this situation.

.....
I think we all know the name, but as you said - no need to go there. If that is true, good gosh.

Reportedly the Bama staff has been made aware of this situation.

The coach reportedly was visited by CDC who was recruiting one of his football players to FSU. Reportedly, CDC asked the coach about this players teachers and asked how willing are they to help this player get into college? After being told that the teachers are doing everything possible within the rules to help him, tutoring, extra credit work, untimed tests, etc. DC then asked, can they bump his grades? The coach asked him to claify did he mean would the teachers change his grades? CDC reportedly said, Yes. According to the coach CDC then alleged that another top prospect from another HS in the Mobile area that had committed to FSU will receive help from the guidance counselors at that school. The implication was that if grades aren’t changed to help them to become academically eligible for FSU then the school must not really want to help the kid.

Reportedly CDC then goes on about how the state of Alabama uses these kids like a meat factory promising them they’ll help them find jobs after college if the NFL doesn’t work out but that’s a bunch of BS. CDC also said that if this player goes to Bama and tears his ACL they’ll kick him to the curb like a sick dog. He then began to give examples of how FSU actually does help players find six-figure jobs all over the country.

Reportedly after CDC meet with the HS coach he went to the Principal of the school and demanded that the prospects grades be altered to help the player gain college eligibility. CDC was asked to leave.

Here is where the story really gets interesting. The HS coach said that eight weeks later the player in question transferred to the other Mobile HS where CDC had said that the students get help qualifying. The HS coach goes on to say that two HS in Mobile have already banned CDC from ever coming on campus due to the same type of recruiting situations.
If true, WOW! I'm pretty sure I know who the coach is referencing. Good to know they banned CDC and I think the NCAA would love to hear about this.

Yeah I've seen this in a couple of places. I think this came out around the time of his transferring and Shanks commitment. Well I'm sure we will be getting a visit from the NCAA.

I just want to clarify since this is in the Jameis Winston thread. I am in no way implying that I think that there are any irregularities in Winston's recruitment to FSU. I was just posting in reply to the CDC posts in this thread.

Re: Would be Funny if......

I doubt he'll ever take a snap in Tallahassee.

I hate it most of all for Alabama baseball...as I felt he could have made an immediate impact on our team and helped us to a possible SEC Championship. I don't see him making quite as big of an impact at FSU. Kind of like I didn't see him making as big of an impact on our football team...but I think he will down in Tallahassee.

Oh well...best of luck to him and I hope he has a fantastic senior year...so he'll get drafted high enough to cash in early.

Well since Oklahoma has a better chance to join the SEC than FSU one day, I will have to pull for Oklahoma in their game this year after this! Lower the "Boom" on them Boomer Sooners!!!;)

I am being idealistic but I think, in the long run, the kids we want to come to Alabama will be the ones who don't listen to this crap. Karma will catch up to 'em (the recruiters) eventually.
