Quick Post-Shreveport Notes from the Road

Hey everyone... I'm posting from Monroe as we just got in from after the game. I'll have my photos up later on, but I do want to say this -

When people were talking about there would be a lot of LSU fans at the game, they weren't kidding. Purple and gold was everywhere, and it got annoying after a while... this coming from someone who usually doesn't mind LSU fans.

Anyways, just wanted to share that... oh yeah... the Alumni tailgate/fish fry was EXCELLENT. Kudos to those involved.

Just out of curiosity, did they appear to be for or against Bama overall?

Baldwin County, AL.
There seemed to be a group that was pulling for colorado...why they would spend their time and money is confusing...but all in al it was the best thing happening in sleezeport last night
I go to the GMAC bowl and there's rarely a team there that I pull heavily for. Just something to do and some College Ball to see. Of Course i don't deck out in Crimson and White.....

Yep, they were promoting it on the local sports radio show the day the bowl was announced. They were trying to get all the local LSU fans to buy up all the tickets that CU didn't buy and all the tickets outside the alloted 12,000 to bama.

You are right about that. Just wondering why the heck LSU fans would waste good money to boo at Saban though? Must be pretty boring in Shreveprt??
It's called hate and obsession. You've got two things working in this formula that makes it so intense. First is the stored up frustration of Bama owning LSU for years and now having the opportunity to "get some revenge". Now add to that the Saban situation and you've got yourself one big emotional mess that many LSU fans refuse to let go of.

When local radio personalities and tv personalities use air time to encourage this behavior you know it's gone way passed friendly rivalry and banter.

Just got back and wanted to give my reasons for all of the LSU fans in Shreveport.

1- They were there supporting Coach Saban.
2- They were plotting out their seats for next years game as that's my take on where they'll end up next year!!!

I did see a few younger LSU fans in the lot by the baseball stadium trying to cause trouble.Nothing much came of it.I seen 3 fellas get thrown out of the game in the south endzone.Other than that I didnt see much. Most LSU fans I spoke with were rooting for Colorado.Mostly venom towards CNS.I wouldn't pay a nickel to watch them play in Shreveport but they sure do love them some Bama football!!!

We had friends from MS attend the game last night and three LSU fans that were sitting behind them were arrested and taken out of the stadium.

Well I think I had the best/worst of the Lsu Fans. I sat in the South endzone and as i eventually heard from man UA fans after the game, they got very annoying up there. I saw very few LSu people without some kind of alcohol. One of them tried to tell me about how he drove down from Atlanta and saw many dead deer and elephants on the side of the road... this is a grown man might I add. AFter about say 8 minutes, I could not take it any longer. I took off and went to the Bama section. The thing that tipped me the most was some kid, maybe 18 or 19, drunk like a skunk, yelling FU Saban and many other words I cant repeat. They cheered for UA and the Buffs. Probably cause they didnt know who was who with their beer goggles on. Anyways PREGAME, as the team was coming out from the tunnel, a young LSU fan, 17 or 18, had a shirt on that said "SAban Sucks" and a represenative from the INDY bowl came over and had a little chat with him right beside me. I actually got the last 20 seconds on camera, it will be on youtube very soon and i will post the link. Anyways the rep. basically said come here and lean over the rail. At this point I thought the rep was going to pull the kid over the rail. The rep, an LSU fan FYI, very calmly told the kid how unclassy and rude it was to wear the shirt, and added that the kid should be happy for what CNS did while their. Anyways this went on for about 45 seconds. The kid was a real punk. But by the end of the conversation, the rep was pretty ticked. He said that UA and CNS was the Indy bowls guest and we should treat them that way. The kid ended up smarting off and walking away and the rep got in a quick A-H....comment. That was hilarious. One more thing the kid said was and this is a direct quote " When I heard that Alabama was coming, I just had to buy it(the shirt)". At this point I had to tell the kid, " Hey we didnt make you do anything" I followed that with a bad name, shame on me :)

After the game, me and my friend ran into some LSU tailgaters who gave us some fish and sausage and other stuff. They also fed some CU people too. SO i got the good and the bad, mainly the bad but its all over now.

Sorry if that thing about the kid was a little out of order and disorganized. It is hard to remember how it all went down, but once i post it on youtube, I will give the link here. Roll Tide!

PS I did notice almost every LSU fan had one of those foot long corndogs and not many other people did, jsut the LSU fans. they did look pretty good though.
