Question: Quit pulling my leg

He got his revenge: he jab stepped on that guy and fooled him on a touchdown run so bad all that guy could do was turn around and watch.

I thought he head butted the wrong guy. The guy pulling/twisting his leg should have been clocked by the Bama OL who was behind Ingram. Of course, our OL would have been tossed, but that is what the Duke player deserved.

Realistically both sides should have been flagged...Duke for not stopping at the whistle, and Ingram for headbutting.

I agree that he went after the wrong guy. I think it was #4 who was pulling on his leg and I think it was Dial who went after him. Mark went after the guy in his face running his mouth.

I dont think Saban got onto Mark but told him what it cost us as a reminder as Saban "might not" have seen it until after the game.

As for my thoughts, hell yea I agree he should have done worse. They were playing him dirty and it was RIGHT IN FRONT of a ref who did NOTHING until Mark headbutt him. Thats what the punk gets for playing dirty IMHO.

I normally emphasize keeping your composure at all costs, but in this particular situation, circumstances as they were with Marks knee and all.........
I don't blame him one bit.

I'm a little surprised that the entire team didn't head butt the guy...lol

sip

Couldn't agree more here. I was waiting for 5 300+ pounders to knock the guy down... but glad they didn't in the grand scheme of things. When MI head butted him, I gave the TV a "Heck Yeah!".

I'd bet that Saban said something like this to Mark....

"I know you know better so i'm not going to say anything"...

And Mark probably replied.."I'm sorry Coach, I shouldn't have lost it and won't do it again"...

And that was probably where the conversation ended.

I think the two have a great deal of respect for one another.

I must say that even my die hard Auburn fan hubby even commented on the play. I missed seeing it and when I came back in the room all I heard was someone head butted someone else.

I was shocked at first because I just couldn't see one of our players doing that.

But then hubby explained what happened.

He even went as far as to say "I don't blame him one bit for head butting him! Even if he is an Alabama player, they shouldn't have done that to him. I would have done the same thing!"

Thats not quite relevant to the topic at hand but whatever floats your boat. Dont get ....y if Heather pees in your cornflakes either...

Yep, now that you say that, it hits me that it was Dial. Proud of him for that. He did well.

I read in an interview with Mark that they weren't just trying to slam him on the ground, they were trying to twist his knee. Very dirty. Mark could have handled it differently but I don't blame him and I'm sure Coach said something but it was more of a reminder of "don't lower yourself to their level."

If I was a coach and Mark told me that during a game they'd be spraying me with mase after they drug me off the 50 yard line while I sat in disgust or going after Spurrier to brawl.

Just got to thinkin' this could be the reason we didn't stop at 48-52 points. Wouldn't have blamed Saban if we'd hung 80 on 'em!
Would have been 80 if Lacy had not fumbled at the endzone or McElroy intercepted at the endzone and Foster not missed the field goal, but oh well. I know what it could have been. Anyway, this whole topic is very disturbing. Something needs to be done. Late hits are one thing and are generally called, for the most part, but what were seeing week in and week out, and not just against Bama, is the intent to do harm. Eye-gouging in the piles, late hits on QB's already on the ground, chop blocks, ripping helmets off, face masking, going for the injured area on a player, intentionally rolling over on another players ankle, helmet to helmet tackles. Many of these go unnoticed and unpunished. Mark Ingram probably should have held his cool and I don't blame him at all because the refs didn't do anything to the Duke player. So for the love of God!!!!, can we get a flag or an ejection for these blatant attempts to harm other players. There's no way 15 yards makes up for Donte missing all but 3 games of last year. I say that these attempts when they are intentional should result in ejection from the game and future games just like Blount from Oregon. Brandon Spikes got a game or 2, didn't he? for the eye-gouging on Washaun Ealey. The entire Duke defense should have been flagged when they carried Ingram backward in the air for a solid 5 seconds after the play was over and one of the db's was yanking and twisting on his knee. You can't tell me that should not be dealt with, that was blatant!!!! Everyone who has followed Ingram and his journey knows he is not vindictive nor does he play dirty. He was pushed over the edge, by the entire Duke defense and a lack of institutional control by the refs.....PERIOD. If I didn't know any better I might assume the Duke defense made a late night call to Chizik for some advice on how to stop Ingram and Richardson.......

No he wasn't. He had an excuse just like every other Auburn fan I know.:)

I flipped out when I saw it. My dad couldn't believe that Mark headbutted the guy until he saw the replay and realized the guy was twisting his leg. Then he agreed with me.

Mark should have been better, but let's think about this- he is a big time competitor and missed the first two games due to his surgery. He's probably a little nervous about re-injuring his knee. I'm not trying to make excuses because I would have done the same thing.
