Do you think Mark Ingram had good cause to head butt the Duke defender after he pulled on his leg at the goal line and do you think CNS got on to him for it?

The Duke players were going for his knee every chance they got. This particular time, they had him overhead and wouldn't break the tackle even after numerous blows of the whistle by the official. Duke should have been flagged before MI had the chance to head butt the Duke player. It is going to be worse this weekend against the Dirty Pigs. I don't blame Mark for the headbutt and NO I do not think CNS chewed him out.

NO! Mark has millions waiting for him in the pros and frankly even my wife flipped out when she saw what they where trying to do to him. I don't blame Mark at all.....

RTR!!!!

I wouldn't have been ANYWHERE near as nice as Mark...

I was extremely upset after seeing it happen. I couldn't help but want a nasty chop block to come their way during the game, but then I remembered we aren't Auburn.

Sure, the guy was pulling on his leg and trying to hurt him, but Mark has got to keep his composure. In a close game, he might have cost us big-time. Let the refs do their jobs and, if they're not, let the coaches handle it. I understand it's easy to say that sitting here behind the computer screen, but it's professionalism. I probably would have done the same or worse in Mark's case, but I'm saying what he (we) SHOULD do. The one who retaliates is the one who ALWAYS gets flagged.

The fact that this may come up at Arky is something Coach Saban needs to address with the refs prior to the game. If they see someone trying to intentionally injure a player aside from normal play, it needs to be flagged and nipped in the bud immediately. Bringing it to their attention before it happens, will make them more aware of it if it does happen. Seems Coach Bryant did this once when one of his QBs were playing injured.

I must say that even my die hard Auburn fan hubby even commented on the play. I missed seeing it and when I came back in the room all I heard was someone head butted someone else.

I was shocked at first because I just couldn't see one of our players doing that.

But then hubby explained what happened.

He even went as far as to say "I don't blame him one bit for head butting him! Even if he is an Alabama player, they shouldn't have done that to him. I would have done the same thing!"

i was wondering why the ref's didn't call duke on continuing well after the whistle. this happened vs. auburn a bunch last year and of course led to showboating and squealing crowd frenzy by the barners.

I was livid when the play happened. Practically every ref had already blown his whistle 2 or 3 times and the Duke players were STILL trying to slam Ingram on the ground. Not to mention the one butthole (being PC here ;)) that was yanking on Ingram's leg from behind. Duke should have been flagged. I don't blame Ingram one bit. I'm actually glad he didn't do anything more than the headbutt because I know I probably would have.

Ok, a dude is pulling your leg (literally), dragging you 15-30 feet well after the whistle is blown.
According to the rules, can you do anything? I mean, if you shove him or push him to get him to stop, you could be flagged. Mark's mistake was that he headbutted him after the player let go. But, had he headbutted him two seconds earlier while the pulling was occurring, would it have been a penalty? If so, what could he have done? Just let the guy continue to pull his leg?

In answer to my on question..I can't say I blame Mark. After just having surgery and returning for the first time this year I can certainly understandhim being upset. Should he have more composer as a Heisman winner ..probably...but he is human. Coach Saban probably said something to him but didn't make a big issue out of it.

I normally emphasize keeping your composure at all costs, but in this particular situation, circumstances as they were with Marks knee and all.........
I don't blame him one bit.

I'm a little surprised that the entire team didn't head butt the guy...lol

sip

I got pretty upset watching and of course Ingram did, too. One of our lineman, Jones, maybe, took exception and gave the fellow pulling Ingram's foot a huge, angry shove. I was glad to see that. I wasn't happy to see Ingram do the head butt, but I can understand it. I think Saban probably said something to him, but certainly not a butt-chewing.

I went back and watched it and at the end as soon as mark got on the ground, to make matters worse, the guy he head butted got up in his face was was jawing something. I think that is was sent him over the edge and I don't blame him. To me it was like back off jack.

don't make mark angry. you wont like him when he's angry.

I thought he head butted the wrong guy. The guy pulling/twisting his leg should have been clocked by the Bama OL who was behind Ingram. Of course, our OL would have been tossed, but that is what the Duke player deserved.

Realistically both sides should have been flagged...Duke for not stopping at the whistle, and Ingram for headbutting.
