Let's hope that I am correct. Moore mentioned in the press conference that he hasn't spoken with any "Coaches". That doesn't mean he hasn't spoken to an agent or two. I really hope that is the case and we didn't fire a coach without having spoken to "someone".

Some of the mods have alluded to this. It is highly unlikely that CMM would have made a change if he did not feel confident that another coach was ready to accept the job. I think your statement about agents is correct. The school has to have permission to talk to a coach employed by another institution; however, I don't think that restriction applies to a coach's agent. I would suppose that the school could not enter into a contract with a new coach while it still had a coach under contract. Therefore, terminating the current coach's contract is the first step. Also, as CMM's statement made clear, some of the coach's being considered have games left to play, so we would not want to interfere with that. All of that being said, it may be a week or more before a new coach is announced, but that's no reason to panic.

It was the classic line of an AD at the press conference announcing the firing of their head football coach. If you believe that CMM has not contacted any of the agents of the possible replacements through some means, I've got some oceanfront property in Arizona to sell you.

I believe part of putting "feelers" out for a coach is simply contacting his agent/representative as this would be legal. The only way our search committee could talk directly to a coach is by permission from that coaches current AD.

Think of this. If we don't know by this Friday then we are obviously looking at coaches that still have regular season games to play. Then I think it'll be sometime thereafter.

I just got an e-mail from someone who works in Bryant Jr's office. Says that Bryant Jr said last week that unless they could hire a big-name coach, they would let Shula coach another year.
