Recruiting Weekend Master Merged Thread

Mike Ford....

In a talk with TI this morning said that Bama is his leader by a longshot. He still wants to take his other 3 visits. As of now we have Upchurch, J. Davis and Ford all listing Bama as #1 on their list. Will be interesting to see which one/ones we end up with.

His comments on BamaMag.com were pretty strong as well. I saw his interview on Countdown a few weeks ago and he never mentioned Bama. A prime example of the rollercoaster ride that is the recruiting game. It looks like it is between us and Clemson. Since Mike Davis no longer is interested in Bama, many think that he has committed to Clemson. Maybe Davis started shopping around and was surprised at what he found. I think the we have a great shot a landing him, I just hope our visit was not too early. Seems like a solid pickup if we can land him. I have a feeling that we will finish strong when Feb. 2 comes up.

Roll Tide

F Rouse

I think FR is just playing games......he lists us 2nd after just visiting to a team he has not even visited! Great player in both sports I suppose.

Big fan

F Rouse loved his visit, but from what I have read he has not had a visit he didn't love......IMO he is playing the game and loving it. I just do not see him coming to UA,yes I would love to have him....but just have a very bad feeling on him!

The biggest official visit weekend of the recruiting season for Alabama finally produced its first commitment.

Brookhaven, Miss. quarterback Jimmy Johns gave the Alabama coaching staff a verbal pledge while on his visit. Johns is a 6-foot-3, 230-pound three-star athlete by Rivals.com and won the Mr. Football award in Mississippi.

Good deal

My bad...

Only part of your post showed on my screen...that's great.

Athletes are always great to have on your team because of their flexibility in the number of ways they can contribute.

This guy is a huge asset. He can play numerous positions, and play them well!

EDIT: Is it pathetic that I'm sitting here hoping that EA sports gets him on Alabama's roster for next year's game? I want a super-speedy QB!

Or..

maybe he plays TE. I am not sure what CMS has in mind for Johns. I really didn't see us taking another QB. Could mean that Peek and/or Trott will not have a spot since we MUST have at least 2 DL and another RB or 2. This is a nice pickup for us. I am still surprised though.

Doubtful. He'd be listed 4th or 5th string likely and EA rarely goes more than three deep on QB rosters. You'd have to hope for EA to expand the rosters again. They'd likely nerf him even if he did appear.

I can bet you he will get a shot at QB! In his recent interviews he said he wanted to go to a school that would give him a shot at QB. CMS knowing this I am sure he will stay true to his word.
