Right now 15 recruits coming in, only 2 commits (Sharieff and Keys) and I think only two leans (Deaderick and Peek), and that might be a bit of a stretch. The other 11 may be leans in other directions.

What exactly happens during these weekends? Are they planned out to the tee as I would imagine, or do you let them go off with a Tide player and hope for the best. I would think that, to be a success, these weekends have to be choreographed very well, with meticulous planning. It would be very interesting to know the ins and outs of these recruiting weekends. I bet we have some here who are involved.

I was hoping the thread concerning this that I posted yesterday would stay at the top, but alas it didn't:

To answer your question as best I can, they are orchestrated to a large extent...

They typically tour the facilities, weight room, dorms, etc. They may get a chance to tour the specific colleges within the University they are interested in. They go to BDS and run through the tunnel, etc. They'll be at the bball game vs LSU Sat. night. And they do get a little spare time with the player hosts.

The DE position has caught my attention this morning. TI has a note up about Greenwood receiving a visit from Pappy last night? He's due this weekend and says it is down to two. Greenwood comments that he's met Bowden (in home) and mentions meeting Randolph but no mention of his impression with CMS.

It looks as though Roy Upchurch will visit this weekend instead of the 14th. CBC met with his coach and parents for a while today. Upchurch is RB target #1 it appears, and this gives you even more reason to be at the Bball game on Saturday night. (AND BE LOUD)

Cole Harvey claims Rouse is still coming, and that they might move it to the 14th...we'll see. Bare with me on some of these updates.

add Mike Ford, RB, to the list. He is a big fast strong RB. Was far from qualifying but has made huge strides. Didn't show much interest in UA until last night when Shula visited him in house and will visit this weekend.

And dropped Mike Davis, btw.

That's not...

confirmed yet, but, if it turns out to be factual, it's because we saw better possibilities in other directions (or because they saw him to be a dry hole - or a combination of the two). Time to trust the staff... :)

Too bad Colorado wasn't more discreet with the female entertainment at their recruit visits... :)

Bama has had their share of great recruits -obviously -, but somehow, someway Bama is always competitive with whatever recruit commits.

I have complere faith in our coaches & who knows, we didn't get the caddy, but maybe we'll end up with a Ford......hope he's a V-8

I said this on another post, but the Mike Davis situation is intriguing. It would not surprise me if we dropped him. Interestingly enough, he was dropped way down in the last rankings update. But, he has said he isn't visiting Bama anymore-- for whatever the reason.

Ok, since I finally got to watch some video, I have a new favorite RB-- Mike Ford. The most "ready" back on the list right now IMO. I sure hope that we can impress him, but he needs to get qualified. He'll run over a LB and then out run one and turn it up field. And don't even get me started about his stiff arm. I'd have to say Upchurch is a close second though.

RB James Davis seems to be coming as well...he is ranked higher on Rivals than all our other targets, but I just don't think he's extremely interested and I think we have other backs ranked higher than him including Ford, Upchurch, and Simpson.

Seems to me internet chatter has really picked up on Upchurch in the last 5-7 days or so. Has there been any developments? Sorry if this is repetitive. I had pretty much scratched him off of my list....
