RIP young man (Thad Abernathy)

How sad. One of his teammates, Rance Crutchfield, also died at a young age leaving behind a young child. Life is fragile.

From what I have been able to gather, Thad ended his life.

God Bless Thad and especially his family. From my own experience, I know his family will never get the answers they need to help them get through the pain of losing someone to taking their life.

This is correct. He will be missed

Oh wow that is awful. I knew Thad when I was in grad school. I didn't know him well, he was a friend of a friend, but we did hang out occasionally. He always seemed fun-loving and full of life, just goes to show how you never know people and what kind of demons they might (or might later) be dealing with. My prayers go out to his family.

The same was true with Rance Crutchfield. It was several years ago but there are still no answers to the questions. Goose, your signature says it well. It has to be taken seriously.

Sending prayers your way Goose .

He played for Enterprise back in the early 90's when Enterprise was actually a contender for state titles. I believe he was part of the team that upset the nationally #1 ranked Robert E. Lee high school in the quarterfinals of the playoffs. I was about 12 when he was a senior and looked up to him greatly especially after committing to the tide. I was also a member of his church where he will be buried (adjacent to Enterprise High).

Your exactly right, we all have our demons. Its just down right sad that those demons are never exposed to the loved one's that are left most of the time. We can all sit and speculate the reasons why our love one's do what they do but no one other than God and that loved one knows why they done what they done.

Now that I have confused everyone, REMEMBER mental illness should be taken very seriously because a loved one's suicide leaves what ifs to the family members behind.

My dad called me last night and told me. He didn't have many details either. I grew up with Thad but haven't spoken to him in some time. He was a great guy and I know his family is hurting right now. My prayers and condolences go out to them all.
