T.Tebow or C.Smelly T. Smith

C.J. Spiller M. Sims

T.Hawthorne J. Ricks

E. Alexander B. Spikes

P. Whitehead C. Eason

A. Smith

U. Chinasa

If we could one of the Qb's, Smith, Ricks, Spikes, and Whitehead the rest would be gravey!!!!

well, we will have something called the "Tebow effect" if he comes. It'll drastically improve our odds with some of these players.

Just a wild guess with %'s...

Tebow- 50.5%
Smelley- w/ Tebow- 1%, no Tebow- 70%
Toryan Smith- 50%
CJ Spiller- 10%
M. Sims- 25%
Hawthorne- w/ Tebow 90%, no Tebow- 30%
Ricks- 50% (honestly, can't tell)
Alexander- 49%
Spikes- may be deterred by T. Smith if he commits....if no Smith, but with Tebow- 75%....no Smith, no Tebow- 25%
Whitehead- 35%
Eason- 20%
A. Smith- 51%
Chinasa- 25%

It becomes all about perception then. Smelley may end up being just as good a quarterback as Tebow. But Tebow will bring more to the table simply by who comes with him!!!! In that case if we get Tebow we probablly vault to one of the top two or three classes in the country. Without him probablly somewhere between 10 to 15!!!

I think we'd probably be top 10 with A. Smith and Smelley.

One more point!! Everybody wants to know when will Bama be "Back". In my opinion part of that being back is becoming a top 5 recruiting class year in and year out!!! That sends a message that the "mystique" of Alabama football is alive and well!!!! I wish there wer no off season just football season and recruting season!!!!

RTO If you had to guess how many of these top 10 most wanted recruits
should we realistically expect to get?
Its just very depressing as of late cause everything looked so good
a month ago because every hint everyone gave us was that these top 10 would most likely be ours. I mean it seems that Fl has literally stole several
of our recruits already just from that one game last weekend. I just can't understand how they have jumped us;in other words a team who got beat
by an average s carolina team and got drummed by us on national tv. I'm just wondering about what else that its gonna take for our Univ. to start
racking these type of players up and taking back our respectable position
in the state of Fl. Oh yes I know it all comes down to success on the field
but seriously Shula has been here now 3 years, hes an nfl guy,we have great facilities, arguably one of the top 3 fan bases in the country,a outstanding exciting new stadium expansion project, and all the rest of the wax. I'd really like to know what these recruits see in an unproven Meyer coach and a football program who only has had success under one coach in history.
I feel that Meyer will be able to win but I don't see him as the next Spurrier.
I really feel Shula has us on the right track and should do wonders as soon as he has his type of players. Its just so frustrating to sit and watch this
stiff robot at Fl take our players away with all the hard work that our staff
has put in along with the fans past 6 to 9 years experiences. I thought that the Spikes guy had recently all but committed to us but now the way you
describe it Fl is in the mix. How many of these top 10 recruits left on our list
are we battling head to head with Fl because it seems they have gotten at least 3 lately. Do you know which position they need the most in recruiting
because you said that they already had 6 receivers and now they're going after
our defensive players? Do you think they'll get all of the players that we're both going after? It seems like we won't hardly get any of the last 10 and I'm worried. What should us fans expect in the next 2 months as far as possible commits? I'd love to hear your detailed and informed answer.

You make it sound like FL has nothing to offer. It's not like either team is losing out to teams like KY or the Miss. schools. Besides, it is highly unlikely that FL wins out on all the head to head competition, especially from the AL residents.

Did you watch our last two games, especially on the offensive side of the ball? Right now, we're the second best team in the state of Alabama and we're spiraling in terms of season momentum. On the other hand, UF won the battle of the panhandle and is on an upswing in terms of momentum. If you are a kid who is truly unbiased (could commit to either), it would appear that UF is a good choice right now. BTW, you have to remember that these kids also have a HS coach who is advising them in many cases... can you imagine what some HS coaches were saying about the offensive side of the ball after giving up 11 sacks against AU?

Tebow, T. Smith, Spikes, and Fayson were the only ones that we were really high on that Bama/UF were battling for.

I had heard 3 weeks ago that Fayson would be a tough pull, even if we do get Tebow.

Toryan seems to be leaning our way. Spikes may follow Tebow.

I was asking RTO only.
Um yes Bamarich actually I did watch the last 2 ballgames because I
actually I OWN season tickets going to ALL home ballgames and I follow
the Tide with a strict passion. I keep up with Bama football almost as much as the air I breathe so I'm not just a guessing yahoo. I know exactly what happened in those games but I fail to see how that would ultimately change someone's overall view of our program. Thats my opinion and I'm sticking to it know matter what you or who ever says. Oh yes and for you gator maybe I'm biased toward my team but in all honesty I watched most of that fsu game and it seemed like any other big time sec game. In other words I'm looking at our record versus yours. Did i ever say they didn't have good things to offer?
umm no I sure didn't. Don't be so quick to assume anything from me when you don't know anything whatsoever about me and don't put words into my mouth. Last time I checked this is an ALABAMA forum site so I fail to see what were you expecting to hear from me. I'm not gonna sit here and gush over your team and kiss their butts like the national media has for the past 15 years. I'm feel just fine the way I am and I have just as much right to speak as you do.

I'm still looking for the source of hostility...

Chill

If a recruit looks at the big (season long) picture

He'll observe that Alabama smoked Florida, but got smoked by the Barn.
He'll observe that Florida got smoked by Alabama, but smoked Florida State.

I know the timing couldn't have been worse with Alabama's late season losses and Florida's late season blow out of the Seminoles, but both programs look like they are on similar ground.

It'll probably come down to which coach is the best salesman of his program.

You are absolutely right, I should NOT have mentioned that FL will NOT be getting all the head to head recruiting battles with AL. That was way out of line. The way I lashed out at you and worded my post so cleverly to insinuate that you have no right to speak your mind was uncalled for. I really should have left the part out about requiring you to bow down to us for our recent run of 7 win seasons. Obviously FL has nothing to offer recruits and if they ever find out that they have been brainwashed by the media we will not even be able to field a team. Sorry for assuming that you said we had nothing to offer, you obviosly mentioned that we had an unproven stiff robot coach and one worthwhile coach in our history. Yes, this is an AL site - I do not sit around and bring up irrelevant FL talk but do try to add perspective when others bring up my team. To my surprise the Gators have comeup quite a bit. Since this is an AL board I try to temper what I post and show at least some respect for the AL fans, keeping many of my unwanted views and opinions to myself. :)

All the ranting aside - my previous post was merely an attempt to get some AL fans to take a step back and realize that even though FL has won some recruiting battles that all is not lost, there are a number of good battles still being fought, and several of them involve AL residents that should have more of a lean towards AL. I also wanted to show that even though FL has been down, they still have a lot of potential and a lot to offer a recruit. We have lost several battles with teams like Miami, GA, etc., that does not mean the sky is falling. In the same way, AL losing a few recruits to us is not the end of the world.

Hey gator, cut out all that well-thinking reason and logic! Are you wanting some poor guys head to explode? Nice sarcasm, by the way.

You may have posted it on another thread, but what is your gut feeling on Tebow?

Honestly I think it could go either way. I tend to give in state schools an edge just like home field advantage, so I will say FL, but he has put the time in at AL and has many good things to say, so it would not surprise me either way. FL seems to have good momentum at this point and it may be another plus for us. The whole ESPN announcement deal is making this much more difficult than it should be, although I do not think this kid would deliberatly mislead either school. I think he probably has a favorite but is giving the other school every opportunity to change his mind.

He could wait until signing day like so many others. Giving a date is actually pretty thoughtful of him, considering the alternative. He isn't hamming it up, saying look at me, I'm so good, we're doing that for him. On the other hand, it adds to the 'coat-tail' effect if recruits really do want to play on the same team as him enough for it to affect their decisions.

Can't we all just get along? :biggrin2: :biggrin2: :conf2: :conf2:

Just my two cents - this is a forum: other people have a tendency to share thier thoughts - If you don't like it - go somewhere else. Geez

I am from florida and my brother graduated from Florida so I will say that Fl is a great place to play football, warm climate, great atmosphere, fun town and alot of media attention. To a recruit that sure seems good. I am a bama fan all the way but gater fan does have a point. If I were a recruit I would have commited to bama @ age 6, but that is because I have been a fan all my life. To a recruit from Florida that may not be the case, Bama has been on probation, they have a history of having a "boring" offense and it is a long way from home. Put yourself back to when you were a kid and think about your college choice and why. Hell I chose to go to AUBURN just because my family lived in montgomery and north fl. I just wanted to be closer to them. Granted I was not a FB player but still. Bama will get better in years to come in recruiting as long as the program continues to get better and stayes stable. At the begining of the year most true bama fans would have been contint with a 7-4 record. Then we started to win now expectations have gone up. Same with recruiting, I will be very happy with a top 20 class with hopes of each year climbing the ladder. Lets not get caught up in who we dont get lets be thankful for who we have, shoot with all that has happened with the program the past few years we could be like KY right now. We are on the rise and recruits are taking notice that is a good thing. As long as we keep winning they will begin to notice us even more.

sorry for the bad spelling
