I am a student and love sitting in the student section since it is usually the loudest part of the stadium. Saturday, however, I could not help but to shake my head at several of the students. For one, there is no sense in "flipping off" the players, band, or whoever. They can't really see them, plus, I could just see a small child learning something. Second, the changed words of Rocky Top need a little work. (deleted) a stadium is a family atmosphere. I believe in showing class and enjoying the game, and hopefully some other people will start doing the same.

Sorry, but I love our "alternate" Rockeytop. Convince the UT band to play that auditory defecation less often, and maybe the students wouldn't shout (deleted) Rockeytop, go to Hell Tennessee" everytime. Tennessee is (probably) our most hated opponent this year, due to the spineless behind-the-scenes maneuverings of that fat pumpkin purporting to be a football coach. Besides, having spoken with a few sensible UT fans, they seemed to know that our little alterations to Rockeytop were all in good fun. These things happen in big time college rivalries.

That is life in the student section!
I would recommend not bringing your family to the game and seating them in the Student Section!

I, honestly, have no problem with the students. I was in that section for 4 years and am currently in that section for another few games.

Perhaps you would be more comfortable at the Hillcrest Middle School games the Thursday night before hand.

If you can ask yourself, "would Bear have approved of that?"...and you can tell yourself, "yes", then go ahead. But if you think that the man in the Houndstooth Hat would have said "no", then.............

I wouldn't do it!!

Well, i'm an older fan, so my view may not carry much weight with students.

I don't have any problem with "go to Hell Tennessee", DELETED is offensive.

I would not want my wife/children/parents/grand parents/friends nor any visitors to an Alabama game to be exposed to it.

You don't have to be sitting in the student section to hear what the student section is yelling. Be rowdy, enthusiastic, have fun...but leave the word
DELETEDout of your cheers. There are many ways to yank your opponents chain without using that particular phrase.

Anything derogatory towards Tennessee is fine by me as long as it doesn't go overboard i.e. fighting, damaging property, cussing out UT fans to their face... I have no problem cursing to the tune of Rocky Top.

From reading some post on the UT boards, I can see that there maybe a problem with the seating at BD stadium.
According to them- And I believe this is right, WHY O WHY would you have the visitor sitting right next to the student section. This is not a good situation for the visitors. I would hate to sit next to the student section in any SEC stadium.

I hope they move the visitiors to the upper deck in the north endzone or something. But visitors next to the students is a situation that could be bad for the University.

I've never understood the attraction to singing the alternate lyrics. Unless everyone in in sync, people listening on TV think that we are singing UT's favorite song and/or that UT has so many people in our stadium that they are dominating the atmosphere.

The alternate lyrics are offensive and are low class. Anybody with any standards would agree that "that word" is obscene.

Why are we so fired up to be low class?

Who cares?

For crying out loud...a football game is supposed to be fun. It's a word. Live and let live, and don't let a silly little word bother you so much.

Couldn't have said it better myself.

I dont see anything wrong with expecting some measure of class at a game. I remember when I was at the 89 Sugar Bowl and were always a score behind Miami, some drunk fools behind me were saying the worst things about coach Curry. I was personally less offended than I was ashamed of them. If I had had a kid there I would have insisted that they please chill. I agree, does it pass the coach Bryant test. Would it be the vulgarities that gave him chills or the Million Dollar Band playing Yea Alabama?

cheers

It is absurd to think there were no vulgarities at Bama games during Bryant's time. As long as there's been football theres been cussing, that means Bama too.
