I found this to be an interesting insight into how the Russians think. It seems like the Soviet mindset of their power comes from the projection of their power, is still in place. Anything less than victory may be viewed as an existential threat.

Thats a chilling read. If this is the sentiment in Russia, we are very likely headed for a global war.
He was wrong about Article V and is wrong about Article V. The Russians have been trying to prove that NATO consists of feckless allies for a long time, to peal away member states to some hypothetical alliance with Russia (in the CSTO or CIS or something). He is just stating as true what he wishes was true.

I'm sure it’s grossly over simplifying but avoiding a world war by tolerating war crimes seems a steep price. I don’t think that position can be sustained indefinitely.
