Ive heard some things from some people i know that have said Alabama is in the lead. :BigA::BigA:

And also that the Canes are in second for his commitment and LSU is third. Surprises me alot about him i thought he was a LSU lock. He also went to the same school as Eddie Lacy!!!!

LSU fans seem worried about losing him to Alabama, but I would have to think, that in the end, he'll end up at LSU. He's from Geismar. That's just down the road from Baton Rouge. I know Alabama landed Eddie Lacy from there, but that was under different circumstances.

Rivals.com Football Recruiting - The first five-stars: Landon Collins
Landon Collins, S, Geismar (La.) Dutchtown

Attributes: 6-foot, 199, 4.43 40

Top schools: Offers from Alabama, Auburn, Florida, Florida State, Georgia, LSU, Tennessee, Texas A&M and USC. His top two right now are, in alphabetical order, Alabama and LSU.

Scouting report: A prototypical strong safety, Collins is a big, physical player who possesses excellent speed and tremendous all-around athleticism. He always seems to be near the action, which not only is a product of his quickness, but also of his awareness and instincts. Collins has the hips and footwork of a corner, but hits like a linebacker. That versatility allows him to play a variety of positions and line up anywhere from the defensive backfield to the line of scrimmage. While his future is likely at strong safety, it's not inconceivable to imagine him growing into a linebacker.

Collins, 6-foot and 210 pounds, has scholarship offers from coast to coast. Coaches from just about every top programs have been roaming the halls of Dutchtown High School since the May evaluation period began, which only adds to his uncertainty.

"I know I really want to play in the SEC," Collins said. "It's the best conference in college football. The SEC is fast and if you play in that league there's a good chance you are going to play in the next level."

So far, Collins has had the opportunity to visit only two schools -- LSU and Alabama -- but hopes to check out Tennessee, Florida and possibly Auburn over the summer.

"[LSU and Alabama] are two great schools," Collins said. "I really enjoyed both visits. They are two great programs with great coaches, facilities, everything. They were also the first two schools to really recruit me hard."

It will be a two team race, between Alabama and LSU, 'til the end, but I don't have my hopes up on this one. I would love to see him in what is quickly becoming on the deepest secondaries in the country.

I'm with you. It's very hard to get kids out of Louisiana that LSU wants.

I have been impressed with Texas A&M's success in Louisiana this recruiting cycle. Although most, if no all, of their gets don't have LSU offers, usually they'll wait LSU out if there's a possibility of one. When Coach Saban was hired, I thought Alabama would recruit Louisiana pretty hard, but we really haven't. Georgia and the Atlantic states have been more of a priority. Along with our traditional out-of-state recruiting grounds in Florida, Tennessee, and Mississippi.

Lets not kid yourself Lsu went after sylve the entire time. Especially after he committed to us last May.

I just stated that in my previous post. Like Sentimore, he stayed true to his word. But again, those scenarios are nothing like Landon Collins recruitment. He's at a position of need for LSU, and he's in their backyard.

1. Lacey
2. Sentimore
3. Sylve

Precedent has been established.
Hey I'm not saying it can't happen, but more times than not the big time Louisiana prospects stay home.

And I could be wrong, but wasn't the LSU staff telling Lacy that he would have to go to JUCO no matter what if he picked LSU because they didn't have room for him?

There are always exceptions to the rule but if you look at LSU's recruits, it's 95% Louisiana residents usually and for the most part the top guys in the state. Collins will be a very tough pull but a chance to learn from a DB coach like CNS is exciting to these recruits so I think we have a fair chance
