My nephew died of oral cancer at the ripe old age of 32. Disfiguring and painful surgery and radiation didn't help. He was a chewer, so, even though you don't personally know anyone, now you know someone who had a close relative who died of it. While Rick was dying, I did a little research. The mortality rate of oral cancer is very high. I've known several people who died of it. I do know one survivor, a retired general, former commandant of Redstone Arsenal.
