Re: New Discussion Thread on Possible Coaching Changes...

Not the first time I've heard his name mentioned this year as a target for big name schools. In a surreal sort of way, the SEC's weird uncle is a bit of a hot commodity himself.
i will just mention for my own amusement, that no one ever mentions mark richt as a candidate for any coaching position :D

I believe Coach Saban will receive a well earned raise when all of this shakes out. He will still be the highest paid coach in the country. Probably being paid in the 7.5 to 8.5 million per year range.

Re: New Discussion Thread on Possible Coaching Changes...

I've stated my opinion that with his regret over the way he left Miami and the damage it did to his name, there is no way he is going to repeat that scenario. I would be more worried if he put it off with a no comment or we'll address that after the Sugar Bowl. The fact the Ms Terry said the same thing only confirmed it and I don't know about you folks but when a man breaks his word, it is a traumatic thing. I was taught by my father and I've lived all my life as your word is your bond and you shall not break it. I think this is a large part of the hurt he has over the Miami debacle. As far as people being nervous over his contract on his desk, SO WHAT, he has one in place through 2018 or 2020. He doesn't have to leave what he has stated over and over he loves doing to rush home and sign a piece of paper. He is RECRUITING and GAMEPLANNING. I'll take the man's word over sportswriters until that man says different, I don't care how many ways you spin it. JMO by the way.

I did not expect Battle to say anything.
Then surely you were surprised when he took to the podium and announced, "Alright Alabama fans, I have a VERY IMPORTANT MESSAGE for all of you!" I won't spoil the surprise of what he said, but if you're curious, highlight the text in brackets below to reveal his decoded message!

and just below it is an article from 5 days ago entitled "nick saban to texas could be official sooner than you think."

my lab-hound mix has as much inside information as most of these sports writers.
When it comes to sports reporters and credibility, remember Teo's girlfriend.

Re: New Discussion Thread on Possible Coaching Changes...

To keep some of our jumpers from plunging....

this would actually be the perfect time for CNS to go if there ever was one.....promote Kirby to HC (let's face it, he's CNS' shadow) and keep Cochran at S&C. If Kirby leaves, so does Cochran. And, I don't want to lose either of them. But, Kirby won't wait forever.....

And next year with a new QB, a new playoff system.....likely some lower expectations.
Disagree on Kirby. If CNS leaves I prefer they bring in somebody with a proven body of work as a head coach. Kirby may very well be the next Nick Saban....but he may also very well be the next Will Muschamp, Derek Dooley, etc.

Re: New Discussion Thread on Possible Coaching Changes...

I worked in a historical museum once and some weirdo came in trying to sell the bookstore a book he'd written about aaron burr's trial for treason. the preface read something like "many of the events discussed in this book may or may not have happened, but..."

we got that far and told him that I was sure his book was very interesting but that he had to take his box of fiction somewhere else.

I don't know. I think Kirby has earned a shot. He has been loyal to us. Luckily, we still have a coach :)

Re: New Discussion Thread on Possible Coaching Changes...

I think the person who mentioned Miles was just rambling about people they might look at if Saban didn't go. But I agree they could do a lot worse. He has a national championship under his belt and is surely familiar with Texas recruiting. While the Longhorns have been down since they were processed, its not like he's taking over SMU after the death penalty.
