I have a buddy who played at Mizzou and he's a really nice guy. Anyways, he was telling me about all these college guys he'd played with in AAU (Jaron Rush, Tyrone Lue, Bruce Bosche from KU, etc.). So I asked who the best player he ever competed against was and he said that Shea Cotton was unbelievable!

He was a little before my time, so what were the expectations like for him. I know he didn't do as well as everyone hoped, but where's he at now?

I'm trying to think of the worst players we've had for shot selection and he makes the top three. :) I'm probably being rough on him, but his thinking he was ready to leave early influences my attitude, I'm sure...

There was an article (SI maybe?) a few years ago about Cotton's story. I could not find it on the internet. Anyways, it talked about his hard upbringing and how he was one of the most talented high schoolers ever.

I was under the impression that Schea Cotton had family issues (illness of parent) that factored in his decision to leave early...

It was his father, I believe that was sick and he wanted to be closer to his family and help out...

I did some research on Cotton..I was not aware that he Lebron James before Lebron James..did he come to Alabama because of CMG....I saw where he initially had committed to UCLA before going to Community College and then on to BAMA..

You could see his talent at times. He could have been a great one if the circumstances would have been right. I hope he has done well. He hit some great shots. I only wish there had been more!!!!

He was probably about as good as K.Winston and certainly better than Grizzard . Whoever convinced SC that his game was "NBA ready" should be hung . The first time I read anything about SC , seems like he was only about 15 years old . He was already being blinded by praise . Talent that was wasted for sure .:mad2:
