Second Spring Scrimmage Notes

We have some major talent at WR(with more coming in the Fall)..We'll miss Julio..I think we'll have better production as a whole without Julio at the WR position..I can't wait to see some of the young stud WR's this coming season..DeAndrew White in particular..

What those stats tell me is that this team is loaded with talent. There are a lot of talented players putting up good stats and some of the players weren't even included in the stats. If we can get Duron Carter in I love our situation even with a new QB.

DeAndrew White is turning a lot of heads.

Loved to hear this for Coach Saban..I'm real big on Sentimore

"He helps us in pass rush. He's still got to be able to play the run better. He's not a real big guy, but he does have really good quickness. He's got pass rush ability, and he has made a significant improvement in being responsible to do his job, is probably the biggest thing. That's the only way you can trust somebody, if they're going to go do what you're asking them to do, and everybody is counting on them doing that." - Saban on the improvement of defensive lineman Darrington Sentimore.

I think he has looked good in the first two scrimmages. I also thought Vogler looked good today. He had a couple of good catches in cluch situations. He is a big target with soft hands. He looks like a bigger Peek. And the lone pic hit the receiver in the hands and bounced out.

That's the thing about reading stats but not being there to actually see what is going on. This is, for the most part, 1D vs. 2OL.

Exactly. Never know who was going against who at the time. It's fun for us to think about, but it's just us thinking, instead of us knowing. That is, of course, for those of us who weren't there.

I love seeing Trent getting 6 receptions for 87 yards! JMac continues to mix in the dump pass and keep the offense lethal and safe at the same time. I need me a QB who can chuck the long ball, take the dump pass, and throw out of bounds, all when it's the right call. I will love GMac forever but he wasn't all 3 of those on most plays. I think we have 2 guys who are (plus one who can also scramble!).

Yeah, but even there watching you never know how they are really doing. By that I mean you can see great plays and some busted plays, but the coaches script these things looking for certain things that we have no clue about.

My main concern with our defense is Mark Barron. I loved Lester last year, but Barron was pretty bad at times. Now throw in the arrest a couple of weeks ago, and you really have to wonder where Barron's heads going to be at in preparation for this season. On the other side of the ball, Hanks's numbers are really encouraging.
