Pretty interesting piece. He takes all the teams and picks one player he can add to put that team at a level above the rest.

Duke

Biggest deficiency: When your best inside player is Brian Zoubek -- and he's hurt -- you know you've got a hole in the middle. It hasn't cost the Blue Devils much as they've dashed their way to a 17-1 record, but at some point during the NCAA tournament they're going to go cold from outside against a physical team. That's when they'll need a beast inside to push them through.

Missing piece: Richard Hendrix, 6-9, Jr., F, Alabama

A not-worn-out approach to the story.

Don't I remember Hendrix narrowing down to Alabama and North Carolina before he- thank goodness for us - chose Crimson over Carolina Blue?

A similar idea: Where would we be with the guard (can't recall his name) from near Huntsville that is playing so well at Georgetown, or D J White at Indiana, or Stanley Robinson at U Conn . . . ?

Yes he did, and he is a great ambassador for the Univeristy. Actually this one example is the best compliment for a player listed considering Davis is a Dukie.

Misread, sorry.

In Richard's senior year, the five stars that stayed in state:

Basketball: 8 out of 24. Link
Football 26 out of 50. Link

I would bet even a greater percentage of non five star football players play college ball instate. And regarding the elite 8, basketball recruiting starts years in advance.
