Should Bama Leave the SEC?

NYBamaFan, I thought the very same thought yesterday. Even so far as thinking about us and another good team or two making the Big East become something respectable. I think that the backstabbing within the conference has gotten out of hand and it goes all the way to SEC HQ.

But, realistically, I know that will not happen and probably shouldn't happen. Still nice to dream though. I'd love to tell the SEC where to get off. Sounds a little bitter, I know...just tired of all the crap.

I guess stupid may have been a little harsh and an overstatement. I just don't see it happening and can't really understand why someone would want it to. Now, if we could get 30 or 40 of the bigtime programs to leave the NCAA and form a new orginization, now that would be something to look forward to.

That was before all of the TV dollars started being made like it is today. I truly think it would work IF enough of the right teams decided to pull out and make it work.

Most of this junk is behind us now, there's no where to go but up. A young coach & great recruiter. Four years ago I was thinking the same thing, the rumors and allegations hurt us along with the bad press.

I guess it was like a slap in the face after what we had done for the SEC over the years. we've done as much or more than any team in the conference.

Patients grasshopper, all of a sudden a year doesn't seem so far away. We'll be back! :biggrin:

Give it up, folks. Every time something doesn't go our way, there is a cry of conspiracy and we should leave the SEC. That's vey much like a kindergardener saying "I am going to take my toys and go home if I things don't go my way." Surely, Bama fans are above that.

The Big XII would not enter their arms to us nor would the ACC. Thats a fact.

Independent? Pulease. Anyone who thinks that is possible are kidding themselves. We have sports schedules lined up that would fully be disbanded due to leaving the SEC. It would put our sports into disarray that would take years to heal.

We need to stay in the SEC. Say if Bama goes to the Big east and wins the N'tl Champ. every year who else in that conf. is gonna carry the load financially. Its all about the benjamins.

Bottom line is the sec knows what school butters their bread, we'll be back to winning more and winning brings respect.

I would like to leave but since I don't have a vote...

I am not naive enough for a minute to believe that we will ever leave the SEC. I am only trying to make a point that me and alot of Bama fans will be very unhappy for a long time being in this conference with a bunch of teams who do not have the slightest understanding of class, sportsmanship, and fair play. I am only saying this if I had a vote-which I don't and I am a Bama Alumni Class of '74, I would take us to the FURTHEREST point away from the SEC. Now of course I am just venting and realize that the almighty dollar will always rule and I am 99.999 percent certain that we will stay. BUT I WILL NEVER BE HAPPY IN THE SEC. I AM UNHAPPY FOR THE SAME REASONS TEXAS, TEXAS A&M, BAYLOR BUSTED UP THE OLD SOUTHWESTERN CONFERENCE. I ONLY WISH THAT WE HAD A FEW OTHER SCHOOLS TO JOIN US AND LEAVE NEXT WEEK AFTER THE SEASON IS OVER!!! BUT SINCE I DON'T I GUESS I WILL JUST CONTINUE TO VENT ON THIS BOARD!!!

I no longer believe that Bama gets equal treatment in the SEC. Should they consider moving to another conference? It may be too late to join the ACC, but the Big East is weak and would absolutely love to have Bama - and they are a BCS conference.
