Shula's proposed changes

On Wednesday, ESPN reporter Joe Schad said Shula would return to Alabama with changes to his offensive staff, and with Shula giving up play-calling duties. A BamaMag.com source confirmed Shula proposed giving up play calling responsibilities to Moore along with changing some staff responsibilities (Shula proposed having Dave Ungerer assigned to coach tight ends and offensive tackles, while giving David Turner additional responsibilities in special teams), but did not say Moore gave any assurance of job security to Shula at that time.

Im confused here,,,Ungerer assigned to coach offensive tackles? Does that mean Connelly stays as O-line coach? Why would you not teach the O-line as a group instead of spliting them up? Looks like he willing to make changes without firing coaches.

The original quote was just one of a couple of scenarios that were quoted by the media. The gist of the article, to me, was that nobody knows what has been proposed but everybody has got to report something.

its no surprise to me that shula just wants to move coaches around. that's about as smart as moving the chairs around on the deck of the titanic. just another big red flag and indicator that mike, despite being a nice guy, is not qualified for this job or probably any other major college hc job. he obviously just doesnt' 'get it' and see that wholesale, major changes need to be made.

This is what I was afraid of. I was worried Shula might come up with "changes" that amounted to muscial chairs with his current staff. If this is true then surely Mal has the guts to just cut all ties with Shula and bring in someone who knows their head from a hole in the ground. Maybe this is why we haven't heard anything yet? I think there is a coaching search on and Shula is pleading for his coaching life.

Seriously sounds as though shula doesnt have the coconuts to fire anyone on his current staff and therefore never will. The sooner hes gone the better. A new coach would have the players attention next year, disipline issues probably put to rest, and emotion and fire maybe brought back to a game that depends and thrives on it. Those are "changes" though. Who is he gonna let call the plays Connley? pffffffffffffff.:conf2:
