Game 3 vs Florida: Briski pitching today and doing well. Scoreless thru 3 innings. But I sure hope our bats wake up. So far, thru three innings, we have struck out 7 times, with two ground outs. Our only baserunner was a walk in the first inning. Need to jump start the bats.
BAMA scratches a run across in the top of the 6th. With two down Preuitt got a single, then stole second. Heivilin then doubled to bring her in.
Florida answered in the bottom of the 6th. They got a lead off double right on the left field line chalk. A wild pitch moved her to third, and she scored on a ground ball out to second base. With two outs, Florida gets a runner on first with a ground ball down the third base line that everyone except the home plate umpire thought was foul. Another wild pitch moved her to second. Gators then get a double to right center to take a 2-1 lead. We get out of the inning, but it's 2-1 Gators going to the 7th.

White goes to third, Valentine safe at first. Line drive out to right field. White tags and scores. Florida challenging if she left early.
Call stands. BAMA ties it at 2. Johnson singles to CF, Valentine scores. BAMA goes up 3-2. Florida changing pitchers. Vandagriff K's. We have the lead going to the bottom of the 7th. Hope we can hold it.

Bottom of the 7th, Briski still out there. Valentine drops pop up behind the plate. Should have been out #1. Instead, Briski walks the lead off batter. Only Briski's second walk of the day, and the first one was intentional. Riley coming in to replace Briski. Briski threw a great game today. Had a little trouble but got herself out of it. Ground ball to second, we get the lead runner at second - 1 out. Base hit up the middle for Florida. This #21 for Florida just hits everything. Florida now has first and third, 1 out.

Yes we do! I thought after the first inning Thursday that maybe we had found something, but we didn't do anything today until the 6th inning. We got the lead, gave it back in the bottom of the 6th, got it back in the top of the 7th, but our pitching couldn't close it out in the bottom on the 7th. For those that didn't see the game, this was not us fumbling the ball around. Florida got the timely hits when they needed them. My player of the game is Heivilin. She made a few plays today that prevented Florida from scoring runs earlier in the game that might have made the bottom on the 7th unnecessary. Our ladies are playing hard, and they are swinging the bat better than last year, but still not good enough.
Yes they’re playing hard. Briski is a player and there’s help on the way. I think Bama softball is on the upswing. RTR.
Hope we can win these next two series. That should give us a winning record in the SEC and give us a better spot in the playoffs. If we can win, we should get a regional, but probably not top 8 spot.
Well, it's top of the 7th in game 2 versus Mizzou. BAMA took a 6-1 lead into the 6th. Riley was cruising, but then gave up a 2 run dinger to make it 6-3. Alea Johnson came in and got the final out. In the 7th Johnson gave up a lead off walk, then a two out single to left, then a 3 run dinger. Mizzou has tied it up at 6 going into the bottom of the 7th. Can we get a walk off?
Bottom of 7th - Heivilin lines out to CF for the first out. Hit it hard but CF made a good diving catch. Ellestad singles up the middle. Hawkins flies out to left. She should have walked but swung at ball four. Duchsherer singles to left. Ellestad goes to second. Clark hits ground ball to SS. SS throws in wide of first base. BAMA scores for the win. We almost choked this one away, but we didn't. Whoooo!
I'll take a win any way it comes.
Taking a 6-1 run into the top of the 6th, then gagging up a 5 run lead, then winning in the bottom of the 7th on a throwing error, isn't the way I'd draw it up.

I know it wouldn’t be a “dominant” SEC season like we all came to expect for so many years, but finishing g above .500 in conference play and winning a couple of games in the SEC tourney would make me truly feel confident in the future of of the program. After losing 2 of 3 to State, I was in full panic mode!!
Going to the bottom of the 5th in the Sunday game. So far we have three hits but it seems like we don't have that many. We got a lead off triple in the bottom of the 3rd, but couldn't bring her in. Mizzou also has three hits. So far, it's a scoreless game, and Briski is throwing well for us.
BAMA gets a break. Vandagriff gets a two out single. Johnson follows with a single up the middle that the shortstop nicked with her glove away from the centerfielder. Vandagriff's wheels allowed her to score from first. BAMA up 1-0. Heivilin flies out to LF for out #3. BAMA takes a 1-0 lead to the 6th.
Top of the 7th. Briski still out there. She's only throw 68 pitches so far. Starts with a K. Second batter singles up the middle. Ground ball to second base - double play!! BAMA wins 2-0.
Ole Mizzou upset OU and Tennessee this season so not totally chopped liver. Nice sweep for the Tide!!!!
I'm happy with the sweep. Mizzou not great, but they have been playing much better lately. The girl that pitched for them yesterday threw a pretty good game. I'll take one more sweep to put us a better spot in the tournament.
