By reported by all the stations you mean they reported that a guy made a tweet than yes they are not reporting Saban to Texas. This guys tweet causes a major ruckus (see this thread). The Saban is a horrible guy stuff can wait until something solid comes out. I'm sure tomorrow well here ua and Saban are close to a deal for 8 mil or something. Then another tweet about sources and Texas and back and forth for the next week or so.

I wonder if that isn't somebody trolling ESPN's website though. Nothing in the article supports it.

Edit: Well derp - looks like they got me pretty good with that one!

We need to have a minimum posts rule. It is hilarious to watch all these single-digit posters come out of the woodwork like fire ants fleeing poison.

Have you guys seen the latest over on ESPN? A story posted an hour ago under this hyperlink. It's not the words in the article as much as the text in the hyperlink that alarms me.

http://espn.go.com/college-football...-longhorns-hire-nick-saban-50m-5year-contract

"texas-longhorns-hire-nick-saban-50m-5year-contract"
It's obvious someone at Texas is messing with people.

You can literally change the link to whatever you want after the numbers and it will take you to the same site.

http://espn.go.com/college-football/story/_/id/10116548/nick-saban-never-to-leave-alabama

I'm a usual lurker and I hardly every post but just had to post that to keep people from freaking out.

EDIT: Good to see that there are people on this sense that know what is going on.

That's exactly what I told a friend of mine today when he asked about UT's denial of MB's resignation. So... Would you agree that Saban could have been used as a pawn in the game to oust Brown and some others there?
Honestly I think Saban is using both schools as pawns. For what, I don't know. On one hand he has a damn good program in Alabama and has a real chance at making a run at Bryant's record. On the other hand, he has shown to be a job hopper in the past and there is that record of winning an MNC at three different schools. I think the only person that actually knows what Nick Saban will do is Nick Saban.

Coach Saban was hired in 2007 for a record 4 million dollars per year. If he made 7.8 million next year, that would equal only a 10 percent annual raise over the last 7 years. I think he has earned that plus some.

I've waded through a few pages in this thread, which is enough for me to draw only 2 conclusions:

1. Out of the entire state of Texas, who in hell is not a "reliable source?"

2. If Saban left for Texas, then Lord help him, because he will have to deal with more clutter (a favorite term of his) than an A&E weekend marathon of "Hoarders."

OK, for a laughter interruption from 2006 (since y'all need it):

Credibility? For what, being absolutely wrong?

I challenge you to a loser leave town match (like the old days of NWA rasslin' with Gordon Solie out of Atlanta). If either of these two (Saban or SOS) are coaching the University of Alabama Crimson Tide come this spring I'll leave this board forever! If either one of them are NOT coaching then you leave the board.

I am joking about the loser leave town thing, but I'm serious about the following:

I would be totally disgusted if they hired Saban after he ripped our boobies off with his comments today.

I would be sorely disappointed in SOS if he came here after what he has said to the people of Carolina and his players.

Forget those two coaches, they ain't happening at this point in time.:BigA: :BigA: :BigA: :BigA:
ROTFL!!!!

1) Ever heard of the "good ole boy" network? They ALWAYS tell the truth.

2) I know, which is why I think he stays

I've been in Dallas nearly nine years -
There's your problem right there! Dallas is full of snotty, $30,000 millionaires! You make some very good points and there is a very fine line between confidence and arrogance. I have no doubt we cross it a lot. That is not strictly the University of Texas though. That is the state of Texas in general. We are very proud of our state and like to tell people, right or wrong. It gets us a bad rap a lot of times.

Nah...
The majority owner is an Auburn grad, but they do have to cater to Bama people to sustain themselves. But there are times when it has been very blatantly barner loving.
Does the majority owner AU grad. own all three stations (CBS, NBC, and ABC) in B'ham? I mean that seriously, not in a comeback way. I usually watch all three stations at some point in the week. If he owns all three, I have not been able to tell they favor AU, certainly not in a blatant way.

I agree. This is getting so stupid, it's getting annoying. I don't know what the hold up is...holding out for more money? Just ask for more money for God's sake! And I've decided there are some real head cases in Texas - some real crazy loons.

Presumably, you were asked to keep quiet last year about the contract negotiations because, IIRC, you never mentioned anything about it.

Yet, in the past few days, you, Jess, and now Finebaum have been cleared by sources to put the contract extension thing out in the public. I could be misreading things, but what that sounds like to me is that UA administration has gotten tired of all the Saban-to-Texas chatter over the course of the last year. Allowing news of the contract negotiations to leak out could be UA's way of putting pressure on Saban to take action one way or another.
Where did you get that idea?
Alabama is not really in a position to put pressure on Coach Saban. We want him to stay, but an attempt to force him to do anything
Would surly backfire. Like a lot of guys on this forum... No one forces him to do what he doesn't want to do.
Money is not really a factor.
