Ok, I have seen names from Saban to Johnson. My question is which would you rather see:

A big name coach that comes in and probably is a 4-5 year solution, then they move to the NFL or retire (still no guarantee that they would be the answer as a coaching move may sometimes fail).

A younger coach without the great resume (a very nice one nonetheless) who, if he proved successful, would stay in place and have the chance to be a legacy type coach. As above, there are no guarantees that anyone would succeed or fail.

Option B, but only if the coach is someone who is a proven HC and likely to stay for 20 years. Since I see no young, proven head coaches who would be likely to stay for 20 years at Bama - I'll take option A...

1. SOS - the best and it would give Fulmer and Tubs nightmares and losses.

2. Paul Johnson - Gifted coach with the ability to adapt and mold his talent.

3. Saban - same as SOS, but with a mean streak.

In this day and age of college football to think a HC would or could last for 20 years is unlikely. The pressure and exposure of college athletics has grown exponentially since the days of Coach Bryant. There is no doubt that SOS or Saban would be a great hire and bring immediate results, and maybe they would stay around 4-6 years, which in todays pressure cooker environment is really a long time. I do think a proven younger HC might be a better alternative, but there is the unknown with that type hire which can only be answered by giving him an opportunity. If SOS and Saban are not viable candidates (and I don't think they are) then you weigh a proven HC from a lesser prestige program against hiring an AC from a name program. Again there is the great unknown.
