Spurrier did not give Darren McFadden any of his 3 votes

Maybe he voted for the best candidate!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

:eek2::eek2::biggrin::biggrin::eek2::eek2:

Hmmmm... JH, I believe you just might be on to something there.
Really, I mean, okay the guy has three votes and thinks Candidate A is the best - whether he's a Gator or not. Should he have still spread them around just to be nice???

I find it unbelieveable that anyone could list the three most outstanding players in college football, and one of those players NOT be Darren McFadden.:conf2::eek2:

I think the answer to the question is much easier and less conspiratorially-driven.

Spurrier was a QB. He likes QBs. He voted for the QBs. Since McFadden isn't a QB, he didn't get Spurrier's vote.

That's more likely than anything. Another easy, non-conspiracy driven answer is that he voted for the 3 players from the winningest teams. As QBs, they would be the leaders of their teams and the record is just another indicator that they were "better" than DMac, even though DMac would be #2 in my book just b/c he was the only offense Ark had.

My thoughts exactly. Personally, I tend to favor QBs as well. If I had a vote, I would have put Tebow at number one and Brennan at number two. I would likely have put Daniels at number three. Personally, I don't pay that much attention beyond the SEC, so if I'm even familiar with a candidate from another conference, he must have done something pretty noteworthy. Since I was even familiar with Brennan and Daniels, I figure they must have had pretty impressive seasons.

I'm kind of confused. Are you saying Darren McFadden did NOT have one of the three best seasons?

Tebow and Brennan could certainly be considered to have better seasons. With the success that Dixon and Daniel had, an argument could be made that they had a more outstanding season than McFadden as well.

This would especially be true for a voter like Spurrier that was a QB and who puts such importance on the QB position.

McFadden had a very impressive season, but it was not a magical season by any means like that of Marcus Allen when he won it. The 4 QBs did have magical type years.

McFadden actually had a better season last year and all of the QBs had better years than Troy Smith did last year. It could be argued that several running backs had similar or slightly better results this year.

Now I would have put McFadden at #2 right behind Tebow, but it's easy to see how Spurrier could have seen the situation differently.

Sure he was. Have you forgotten about the WildCat formation?

Seriously, though we didn't have a dog in it, DMac was obviously one of the top 3 talents in the country. There just isn't much debate.

Spurrier is a jerk. McFadden ran for over 300 yards on his team and he doesn't even give dude a vote for the Heisman...priceless.

He wanted Tebow to win and McFadden was his biggest competition so he just swung the vote even more in Tebow's favor by not giving the best football player in the nation a vote. Classless and unethical...Steve Spurrier defined to a tee.

Everybody wants to talk about McFadden's monster game against LSU, but let's look at some other numbers. McFadden's team lost 4 games this season. In those 4 losses, McFadden's numbers were

OPP TOTALYARDS TOTALTDs
Bama 211 2
UK 183 1
Auburn 48 0
UT 134 0

By comparison, Tebow's team lost 3 games this season

OPP TOTALYARDS TOTALTDs
Auburn 276 2
LSU 225 3
UGA 251 3

When Arky lost (especially later in the season), a strong case can be made that McFadden didn't show up. Tebow brought it every game.
