All I can base this on is how they have done so far in their careers and last season Tebow was arguably (to some, not me) the best qb in the country while Stafford wasn't even the second best qb in his own conference. Stafford is a very good qb and who knows how they will compare in the future, but up until now I don't see how this is close.

One aspect that is underrated about Stafford is his responsibilities at the line. When he can start thrrosing for a higher percentage, he could become an elite QB. In my opinion he is getting closer, but it is a slap at Tebow's face to even compare the two right now. Like I pointed out, JPW is a more apt comparison at the moment.

don't forget.....Tebow 'dissed' BAMA by signing with florida; for some people you could have asked 'Henig vs. Tebow' and they would've found some reason to justify Henig.

True. Scorn can cause blindness.

Stafford is a good quarterback, and will possibly be a great quarterback. But, you have to give Tebow some credit: on short yardage situations against some very good SEC defenses, he gets the job done 9 out of 10 times. He can pass pretty good, too, and the most improtant thing is, he doesn't allow himself to beat himself. He keeps his head.

In those regards, so far, Tebow leads Stafford.

Stafford has a good arm but , he's mostly hype IMO . If he doesn't improve a ton this season(especially w/K.Moreno @ RB) , I don't think he ever will . JOMO .

I like both alot, but Tebow has a title and a Heisman (which he deserved).

I think Stafford will be the better pro, but I think Tebow will suprise many at the next level and be a good NFL QB as well.

In college... Tebow, hands down. So I voted for him. Later though... I think they'll both fall off the radar. Stafford has more long term NFL potential but my gut tells me neither will make a big splash (i.e. Manning) in the pros.

I agree.....I don't see either making a huge splash in the NFL.
Of the two however, Stafford seems to be more of a pro-type Qb. You gotta love all of Tebow's strengths. He is definately a born leader.

A few things:

1. If you compare JPW's and MS's stats from last year you have to take into account JPW is in his 4th year of D-1 football and MS is in his 2nd, so that is a favorable comparision for MS.

2. I don't feel scorn for TT not coming to Alabama because he could have single-handedly saved CMS's job. TT is probably one of the 5 best athletes in America, I'm just not sold on him being a QB. The way he throws his body around with wreckless abandon is very fun to watch, just not what you want from a QB. The QB's job is to lead the team and get the ball into the hands of the skill players. There are faster players on Florida's team than TT. By keeping the ball almost every play TT is limiting the effectiveness of the Florida offense, and later in the year, TT himself.
3. TT was a gimmick in UF's National Title run, nothing more. He was essentially a change of pace QB who set his passes by running the ball so much. He was very effective in this role, but in the few critical situations he was placed in during games he was almost guaranteed success by formation and down and distance. To say he had as much to do with the NC run as Chris Leak did is to belittle CL's accomplishments for that season.

Tebow is far better. The only reason this is a question is because they were in the same recruiting class, they are both on good teams, and the fact that Stafford has NFL size and arm strength, while many think Tebow will not be able to play well in the NFL. I think Stafford is one of the more overrated players in college football. He is good, but he also had Knowshon and Thomas Brown to take the pressure off of him. Tebow has not had that luxury.

I have to go with Tebow, to take the beating he did last year and still have decent enought passing and running numbers to win the heisman is plenty for me. Stafford had some bright moments, but his numbers are still very comparable to JPW as stats show in the beginning of this thread. We had 2 decent receivers last year, and we've heard how GA is loaded with talent second to only LSU. GA's running game opened up plenty for Stafford as the year went on, and IMO thats why he had the success he did. This year may be the same with opponents stacking the box trying to stop Moreno, but after watching the young talent Meyer had on the field in their spring game, watch out, no telling what trophies may end up in Tebows case this year.

First here's a story about the two
http://msn.foxsports.com/cfb/story/8139904/Tebow,-Stafford-continuing-their-QB-rivalry

Ok which is better in your o pion the tank Tebow or the Aubarn burning Stafford?

:conf2:Until Stafford pilots UGA to win a SECC, a MNC, and/or a Heisman the question is a no-brainer at this point. If you examine Stafford's stats compared to say JPW's, the stats are not that far apart. And looking at the voting on the web-site, there obviously are tons of Gator-haters casting ballots because as of 8:45PM-EST Stafford is commanding a 55% to 45% margin with 16,000 votes so far... I know it's supposed to be 'opinion based' but Stafford's numbers & his accomplishments (so far) are NOT EVEN CLOSE to what Tebow has helped Florida accomplish. TEBOW by a couple of country miles.

TMac,

The poster above me was implying that Stafford's supporting cast was far superior to what Tebow is surrounded by, and that's just not the case.

And again I would argue that you can't use Tebow's freshmen year (in which he didn't even split time with Chris Leak) in comparing the success of the two QBs. Tebow had a monster year, there is no doubt about that, but if you had to choose would you rather JPW have Tebow's stats and UF's record from last year, or Stafford's stats and Georgia's record?

No disrespect, but that's a silly choice. Anyone would rather be 11-2 rather than 9-4, however you have to consider the circumstances too. TT had a team lagely made up of freshmen and sophs and he still had the best year statistically of ANY QB..........EVER. He set NCAA and SEC records that may never be broken and he still has two years to go, plus his supporting cast will only get better and better.

Downplay his freshman year if you want to, but I think we both know that without him, the Gators don't win the NC. They had no RB they could depend on to keep drives alive in short yardage situations and he stepped up and delivered......BIG TIME. Even though opposing Ds knew what was coming, they still couldn't stop him. He doesn't have to feel guilty about wearing his NC ring.

Given a simple choice between Stafford or Tebow, I'll take Tebow every time. Folks like to try to downplay his passing ability, but his passing stats put Staffords to shame. More TDs, more yardage, fewer interceptions and his career passing efficiency rating is 187.1, the best in NCAA history. On top of that, he RAN for more TDs than Stafford threw for. The Heisman folks got it right for a change.
