With everything I've read and heard over the past year with the state of our talent on our team, wouldn't you think that might tick off the players on the team now? What everyone including the Media is saying is that the players we have now can't cut the mustard. If I were one of those said players, I would be playing my arse off trying to prove people wrong. Maybe we really don't have the talent cause I see no butt busting at all....sure, maybe a few good plays here and there, but I would love for them all to square off on someone we are playing soon....namely Tenn!!!

You know ive thought about that myself. Bama players have a lot to prove. that might be a good thing, it could lead it a unexpected upset

Our team does have talent, just not enough to spread around. CNS took this team with a downward spiral 10 years in the making. He is going to get this team where it needs to be but it wont happen overnight. Our players play their hearts out against teams that have a 3 deep rotation. When I say 3 deep I mean there is not much drop off from 1 to 3. We can blame the former coaching regime, NCAA probation or what ever else but these are our players and we need to support them.

Very true, and it's gonna take CNS a few more years of recruiting to get us to the point of 3 deep with very little drop in talent.

this team dosent have the killer instinct to put a team away when they are up 23 -0. we need to have the team to get pi$$ed off and and whip somebody for 60 min. and at the same time play under control and play smart. this has got to happen. because right now teams will see 23-0 and still feel that they are in the game, and untill we start putting teams away they really will still be in the game. untill we put teams away teams will say to themselvs dont worry they will run out of gas. its like saban said ,this bunch is too worried about painting their nike swhooch black, cause it looks cool, rather than consentrating on winning football games.that my friends imo is the root of the prob.

Lots of players (No - make that MOST of them ) say that they purposely dont' read the paper and especially the internet - tho I'm sure some of them might if they ever had that kind of time. CERTAINLY, they hear snippets of complaints, etc tho - but I just think that they don't truly have a clue how thick it can be at times. Coaches hate the internet - I know this for fact - they avoid it at all costs.

It's not talent alone -- its also coaching. Bama probably has 50% of the offensive playbook installed. The defensive players are probably certain of their position, reads and assignments about 50% of the time.

Coachig and system changes take time. Bama will probably start clicking sometime around the Iron Bowl.

I know his name is anathema around here, but if you remember during Franchione's first year, we had a real problem with finishing teams then too. There were several games where we built an early lead only to fritter it away in the fourth quarter (the South Carolina game leaps readily to mind). It wasn't until the Auburn game that year that we finally put it all together, but when we did, we humiliated the Tiggers. I'm not saying that will happen this year, but I am saying that it takes time to develop toughness when it was never emphasized before.

I don't think it has anything to do with talent OR with time........it's a mentality that today's Prima Donna players more often than not, don't play with..... schools get excited about 4* and 5* rivals or scout prospects, based on speed, and jumping, and bench presses.......but mental toughness is a hard factor to measure I'm guessing, and it takes someone who has the eye for it to spot it.

Coach Bryant never needed time to develop toughness......it usually showed up right behind him......and from everything I've read about him......it was a requirement just to suit up for saturday. Different kids 30-40 years later, different expectations, different game in alot of ways....

I really think our talent is there.......and a good example is Keith Brown, the kid's got NFL Potential, but most of the time I'm not sure he shows the hunger for it.......but the few games where you see in his eye he has something to prove, he proves it.......that tells me the talent is there, but the "want to" is missing.

Underdeveloped talent has to be added to that. Consider, out of the recruits we've seen over the past few year and looking at the defensive backs specifically we have a true freshman and a former walk-on seeing a lot of playing time.
