Re: Joe Schad reporting UT has dismissed Janzen Jackson

Not sure what got him kicked off, seeing that he has survived getting away with 2 felonies at UT. Maybe he murdered a Tennesee fan, whose family decided to cover it up to avoid losing a good player.
Chris Lowe said failed drug test and substance abuse was the reason.

The Janzen Jackson situation is not surprising. The kid was train wreck from the beginning. Dooley gave him plenty of chance to straighten out.

It's ashame too. Saban really wanted this guy at Alabama. He was a five star safety and very talented. By far their best defender in my opinion. I knew something wasn't right when Lane Kiffin got him to decommit from LSU and sign with Tennessee. Something shady happened in his recruitment and he's been nothing but a nuisance since he signed with them. I'm suprised he lasted this long. If Fulmer was still the coach, he would probably still be on the team.

I disagree. The kid comes from a good home (his father is a D1 assistant coach). Barton Simmons mentioned this morning that talking to him in high school, he would've never guessed that it would turn out this way as he was very soft-spoken and unassuming. Now, obviously, something went wrong along the way. But I won't buy that he was a lost cause coming in. We've all done things in our youth that we're not so proud of. And as long as Janzen has breath in his body, he has a chance to redeem himself.

this.

Kid was NOT a trainwreck until he stepped foot on the ut campus; at which point he turned into a complete waste of talent. Unfortunate.

Like I said, the minute Lane Kiffin got ahold of him, things went south. Kiffin is a sleazeball and has a very liberal way of coaching players. The cesspool that is Knoxville probably didn't help Janzen much either.

The reason for the abrupt dismissal was either another failed drug test, UT sweeping out the last of the Kiffin trouble makers, or UT came to the conclusion that Jackson's UT opportunity really was nowhere to be found. ;)

In a statement released by the university Wednesday morning, Dooley announced that the defensive back has been dismissed from the Volunteers. No specifics behind the dismissal were given, although Dooley referred to “a player’s actions” in his statement addressing the abrupt development.

“Our program has devoted a tremendous amount of energy, resources, support, and care in an effort to help Janzen manage his personal challenges,” said Dooley. “I will always be there to help him as a person, but there comes a time when a player’s actions preclude him from the privilege of playing for the University of Tennessee football team.

Agree, the situation Tennersee is in right now is because of Kiffin. He did this, most colleges I would feel sorry for them but this one.....
