The 2024 Presidential Election

I have yet to abandon the opinion that neither Trump nor Biden will be the nominees.

Still a lot of time left for things to happen.

Speaking of which......do you think this helps or hurts Biden's approval ratings?

I do wish Biden would step aside and let someone from the next generation take up the cause. He’s done more than enough for a lifetime. Hopefully he will decide to just enjoy what time he has left with his family
He would - if he thought someone would jump out and be able to beat Trump. It’s getting late in the game and so far, zip.

I dunno about Trump. It's starting to look like even a conviction won't derail his goal of winning the primary. His lead looks pretty commanding. I figure Biden will step aside after the primary and the DNC will hand-pick his successor. Maybe Newsome or Whitmer. It doesn't really matter to me.

Interesting question about de' peachmint.....I'm pretty sure everyone in America sees it for the crapshow it is because there is a zero percent chance the senate will go for it.

That’s why I’m against most impeachments unless they really have the goods like they did on Nixon. He knew it and got out. We are too partisan now unless it is overwhelming evidence and I don’t think they will get that on Biden.

I don’t think it will matter at all. It won’t move the needle.

The article mentions at the bottom that according to the poll if Trump is convicted it becomes a 1 point Biden lead.
And although Trump is leading Biden in the polls right now, several voters say a federal conviction could change their minds. If Trump is convicted in any of his four criminal cases, that would shift the playing field to give Biden a 1-point lead, polling shows.

It's almost as if they don't believe his eventual conviction isn't a foregone conclusion like the rest of us think. Weird.

The thing I find interesting is the battle ground breakdown. Biden is doing bad in the battlegrounds. Saw some polling on Haley vs. Biden and she absolutely crushed him.

Just read an article on the newsletter "The Signal" where it talked about the educational divide and the rise of right-wing populism WORLDWIDE. IOW, the Republicans and DJT are riding a wave that is global in democracies. Sure hope he's wrong...

That sounds interesting. What kind of educational divide? Also is the newsletter something you could throw up a link to?

Dems are mostly college educated...Repubs are not. Here's the link:

My father enlisted into the Navy straight out of high school. After a 20 year Naval career he retired and got a job as an employment counselor at the Virginia Employment Commission in the downtown Norfolk office, where he worked for the next 8 years, until his death from a brain tumor in 1968.

I was aged 6 through 14 during the years he was an employment counselor and I remember some of the stories he shared with us at the dinner table about helping folks with their careers and getting work. A lot of the work he did was more than just finding jobs for people. It was also trying to help provide some direction and 'life advice'.

Most of the folks he helped didn't go to college. I know times have changed since then but what stuck with me through the years is the benefits of lending a hand to those who are struggling and helping to make a difference in their lives.

Folks with college degrees aren't any "better" than those who don't. As far as I'm concerned, we owe a huge debt of gratitude to those in our workforce who get up every day and put in their 8 hours (or more in many cases) regardless of their level of formal education. My Dad felt the same way and said as much so many times.

Those who look down their noses at folks who are not college educated....they're just ignorant fools with weak egos who need some kind of false mental narrative to make themselves feel better.

Those folks that my father helped....they covered the entire demographic spectrum. How can someone have a bigger hero as their father.....I just don't know.......

You are 100% correct...some of the smartest people I've known never graced a college campus. And conversely, some of the dumbest had a degree from a 4 year school. Anyone who looks down on another person is showing you their own insecurities. I may have a ph.d., but I can barely fix a running commode or leading shower wand...I'm struggling with the latter.

Thanks for sharing your story.

At this point, I'm reasonably certain a ham sandwich would beat Biden in a clean election. Alas, I genuinely don't believe there is such a thing which is why I gave on voting 2 decades ago.

The amount of A’s being given out at supposedly high level colleges and universities has devalued degrees in my eyes. A is the most widely given grade in college. That is just stupid.

When I hire staff I pay almost no attention to their degree. I’m interested in experience, track record, personality fit, work ethic, and references. My degrees were a joke to get. All it took was perseverance and the willingness to do mind numbing work and projects.

So can this same ham sandwich beat Trump?

The sheer lunancy of our society to re-elect Trump reaffirms that we have no concept of what a wannabe dictator will do to gain power and maintain power. The generation that fought, bled, and died fighting dictators is gone and their caution apparently died with them...

38.4% approval rating by Biden.....

Isn't that the problem here?

But that is the problem, people don't recognize what they will be voting for just because they don't like Biden's age and handling of inflation (which he has nothing do with).

Don’t forget his brilliant handling of foreign policy.
