News Article: The 2025 Pre Season College Football Polls Are Out

I have no issue where we are ranked. We have to prove we are a better TEAM than last year. Last year, offensively, we did not flow for whatever reason.

Apparently, Dabo has a team that resembles some of his National Championship teams. If I remember correctly, Herbstreit is REALLY high on them, saying they'll look a lot like when they won their NC's.
Those teams Dabo won with had three strengths, a very good QB, elite DL, and a bevy of great Wrs. we shall see if those variables are in place this season.

It's going to be interesting to see all these new QBs, including ours. Wish we could have at least got TS some meaningful snaps last year. It should be a crime that we didn't.

Manning has so much pressure and media love that I actually feel kind of bad for him.

UGA, Stockton is one to watch. When i watched him last year he looked like a one-pitch guy...fastball, fastball, and then another fastball. He'll need to find some touch to be successful.

Let's do it!
I'm sorry, I never feel sorry for a Manning. He knew what he got himself into by coming to Texas of all places.

They shouldn't rank 'em until after week 4.

Should that be in blue font???
No. I think you are right.
I get a free press so folks can ask coaches/sports writers whatever they want, and publish the results, but at least by week 4 some of the dust will have settled.
For example (God forbid) Bama should lose to FSU and UGA, where would Bama be ranked? 2-2 with wins over ULM and Whisky? Win all of those games, on the other hand, and Bama should be close to first place,.

I might be way off but I think Georgia or LSU is going to be the biggest flop in the Top 10.

I think Georgia will be fine, but probably not national title caliber this year. LSU could be amazing or could be a dumpster fire. ND is the team I see taking the biggest step back this year. I like Freeman, but I just don’t think they’re quite at the point of really being a perennial power.

In 2023, Ty played in 6 games...completed 11 of 20 passes for 179 yards ... also rushed 14 times for 86 yards with two rushing scores and a two-point conversion.
In 2024, Ty played in 6 games...completed 14 of 25 passes for 167 yards and rushed eight times for 44 yards and a score.

The media and several of the on air pundits have been wanting Penn St. to win it for about ten years now. I'm not sure why they love Franklin so much, but they do.
It’s gross…I hate that we let things like ND killing a kid and Penn St. being disgusting just go away…shoot, didn’t they even reduce PSU’s penalty?
Sorry…kind of off topic, but not…

I think they have us about right to. That ranking tells me they think "Alabama has a lot of talent, they could be good, very good. But we just don't know what they are until we see the QB." That's what that ranking seems to say.
I think that’s pretty much spot on.

Penn State is that high because they have a returning senior QB. If they had a new QB like most other top 10 teams, they'd be much lower.

Clemson has a returning QB. LSU has one. Miami has Beck.

Texas, Ohio State, Georgia, ND, Oregon, and Bama all have new starters at QB.

Penn State will be 3-0 when Oregon comes to them. Then they don't play anyone until they go to the horseshoe. They have 2 games.

If Clemson beats LSU they may go undefeated. Their schedule is a joke except for that trip to South Carolina at the end.

Notre Dame actually starts off with a challenge. At Miami, then Texas A&M.

Any team that is elite at these three positions at the same time will always be championship contenders.
Yep, outside of 2009, pretty much all our recent NCs had those contributing factors.

And, in this modern era, you don't have to be elite on defense to win a NC. But you pretty much have to have the horses on the offensive side to outscore the better teams!

I've heard so much crowing from barn fans due to their new QB beating us last year. Do they do anything without us living rent free in their heads?

If you look at the last 4 or 5 national champs, and maybe even further back than that, they've all had elite defenses, particularly in terms of yards/gm. Offensively, I wouldn't classify 2023 Michigan or 2021 UGA as an elite offense. Very good but not great.
