The Advocate Baton Rouge: 5 reasons LSU should leave SEC

  • Happy Thanksgiving to you and your family from all of your fellow TideFans! Be safe and be blessed!
The team with the biggest beef is UT. They have to play Florida and Alabama every year.

LSU has a legitimate complaint about having Florida as their permanent east opponent. Florida has a better program than UT and Florida owns UT. All this UT is better historically is ancient history. UT won the first 10 games in the UT-Florida series.

Since I graduated from UA in 1976 the Vols have beaten Florida 6 times. In the chart below, the game winner is in the middle column; the series score is in the last column on the right.

Re: Five reasons LSU should stick with the SEC

What? Alabama not only caught the rough side of the schedule in the past, they had to do it while facing team after team (including LSU) coming off a bye.

There's nothing wrong with the schedule. Alabama won the national championship having the #2 SoS in the nation. Who was LSU's OOC this year? It was Washington. This is a manufactured issue. The only thing I hate more than the media saying drivel like this is when Alabama fans get suckered into believing it. There will be easier and more difficult years, that's just how it goes. Was Alabama whining when they had to face Peyton Manning each year?

Alabama's SoS was 33, LSU's was 28. Fix what?

If LSU actually was stupid enough to try and follow Tulane, go for it... I just can't believe any Alabama fans are chirping along with them.

And, we also complained loudly about the unfair scheduling against us...whats so wrong with their fans doing the same?
Its just an article to vent frustration. Theres no way that they would ever consider leaving the SEC.

Everyone has frustrations, especially when you lose a couple big games, as they have.

Did we? Who was complaining about a rotating schedule rotating? In the least, I didn't see much of "the schedule rotated, let's leave the SEC".

Unfair scheduling is when they do something to you and not everyone else. That's not a rotating schedule, and in terms of the rival, I've seen far more complaints about the possibility of losing the UT game (which is what LSU is trying to do to us) than having to play them.

It's just more propaganda with an agenda, as I said before. "Oversigning", playoffs, now this. The media won't be happy until the SEC has to play 9 conference games, since it's "unfair" that some other conferences have to play 9 conference games.

Re: Five reasons LSU should stick with the SEC

BTW, I don't like criticizing without giving a solution, and here it is. The SEC SHOULD be reealigned in the following way which preserves the interdivisional rivals currently in a natural manner, is a geographic match, etc. SEC East - Florida, Georgia, S Carolina, Tennessee, Vanderbilt, Auburn, and Alabama SEC West - LSU, Arkansas, Texas A&M, Missouri, Miss State, Mississippi, Kentucky This makes the most sense geograhically and more important the natural rivalries are maintained....Alabama vs Tennessee, Auburn vs Georgia, etc. And the SEC can then have 2 rotational interdivisional games per year and it wouldn't be 14 years between LSU playing Tennessee at Knoxvile like it would be as it is right now

This comment posted under the article had me rolling on the floor. Of course LSU fans would want this. Of the traditionally 6 football driven programs (Bama, UF, UT UGA, LSU, Barn) 5 would be in the east. The reason Vandy is in the East and Barn is in the west was to divide them equally 3 and 3. So the new look would meanLSU cake walks to Atlanta.......Stupid LSU fans i say don't let the door hit you in the buttocks on the way out
