IOW, what Cuonzo Martin did last year.
Pray, pray, pray that it could happen.

I've been looking at this all wrong!!!! Might as well dream of us running the table, getting our first NC in basketball, CAG get's hired somewhere else, and then Tom Izzo decides he rather spend his winters in Alabama and play golf with his buddy Nick Saban!!!
Yeah, and if Izzo won't come, gotta believe his caddy's got a more dynamic offensive approach than Grant, so maybe 'Bama would take him instead.

If we had a Stokes and Maymon, it could happen. Unfortunately, Kessens and Taylor are not Stokes and Maymon.
LOL!!!! You said a mouthful! When i watch his body language, the looks in his eye, and the general mannerisms of Taylor on the court, I find it hard to believe he can even figure out how to tie his own shoes. He looks like a deer in the headlights on the court.

I'm now on board with Grant has to go. Losing to this not-very-good Vandy team on our own court after one of the best 3 shooting nights of the year . . . Geez.

I suppose it is obvious that Shaka Smart was the reason Grants' VCU teams were good.

Sad to see it come to this.

We owe it to these players who committed to play for the University of Alabama, to put a competent individual in charge of helping them improve their basketball skills. We need someone who teaches them that it is much more important to shoot the ball towards the basket, instead of someone who apparently teaches them that it's more important to pass the ball enough times to bleed the shot clock down to a few seconds before shooting the ball. The brand of offensive basketball that our program utilizes is utterly embarrassing. It creates the impression that everyone is afraid to shoot the ball.

They really are afraid to shoot...

It's telling that one of our best offensive performances in recent times is not good enough to beat the #13 team in the league on our home court.

Is that why Levi doesn't engage until there is trouble? He scores most of his points at the end of the game.

It is often said a team takes on the personality of it's coach. If that is the case in this situation, it tells me the philosophy engrained in the players is "let's try to play so we don't lose". Honestly, if we played with a "let's win" philosophy, the last two games against MSU and Vandy should have been easy double digit wins. Yet, we escape Starkville by the skin of our teeth and suffer a miserable loss at home to Vanderbilt.

I don't agree. After seeing the talent we have and the way we played together early in the year we should be sitting on the precipice of 20 wins and part of the SEC top 10. This team should have "gelled" after December. There is a difference in getting "beat" and "losing" and we have "lost" way too many games in January we should've won!

well, i could see it early in the season that things wouldnt be any better this year. I guess that is why i dont feel as bad as some. It's just no surprise to me where we are right now.

I think one of the most telling things about this thread, and the ''future of Alabama basketball'' is that there are zero posts referring to ''next year's talent'', recruiting, etc. That tells me that the truth has finally sunk in. The woes of this team have next to nothing to do with the talent on the court, but everything to do with the complete failure by their head coach.
I stand by my answer to the poll above. Regardless of how this season ends, we need a coaching change, and the sooner the better.

I agree. At the beginning of the year I was very optimistic that this year would be different than all of the others. We seemed to have more movement and energy, but that faded as the season continued. Why, I don't know.

fair enough. but talent only goes so far unless you have a team full of future NBA players or a coach that knows what he's doing. We still had issues passing the basketball. Heck, we were still awful when we had numbers on fast breaks. We didnt have an inside game at all. No rebounding. based on all of that I still say it was pretty obvious that we wouldnt see much improvement. there is no way i saw 20 wins at any point. but like you said, i didnt think we'd be near bottom.

You have Trevor Releford Light with Tarrant....them we have a Backup PG that looks like he weighs 150 lbs....Big men with weak hands....and frail bodies that can't control their fouls.....and our best player is a big 2-3 guard - Levi (by far) -- not sure where we are supposed to get better?

I think Tarrant can be a scorer, but his size will prevent him from being a bigtime scorer in the SEC without an inside game.....

Those that wanted CMG run out of town apparently forgot who David Hobbs was......now we have David Hobbs part 2......this time without NBA Talent

YES! During the 2nd half of the Missouri game, Bama scored a couple of quick buckets then went back to slow-ball again. I posted then that Missouri could not keep up with Alabama if Bama would play faster and more aggressive on offense. Even though Alabama won, the game could have been decided much earlier.
