i didnt vote because both can be used to an advantage. Winning the N.I.T. instills a winning attitude. you cant do any more than win and that is the type of attitude our football team has right now. On the other hand, nothing beats the experience gained being in the big dance. Once "you've been there" those SEC road games at auburn and Ole miss seem like scrimmages

Nah -- the NIT is like going to the Independence Bowl...........

I think either is good because it gives extra games. Extra games are always welcomed from a coach's point of view.

This is like asking would you rather lose the National Championship game or win the Sugar Bowl in football terms. The NIT is just as meaningless as the bowl games.

Of the last 10 NIT champs, only four (assuming Dayton doesn't win the A-10 auto bid this year) made the NCAA Tourney the following year. Those teams were 2001 Tulsa, 2002 Memphis, 2007 West Virginia, and 2008 Ohio State.

So, all of the "practice" and "experience" that comes with winning the NIT hasn't been a springboard for many teams. The more you know...

We lost in semi's in '96 and lost in finals in '01. Closest we've been since I been following Bama hoops.
We made it to the semis in '73 and '77 and lost both games. Made it to the semis in '79 and won the consolation. I got to see us beat Virginia and Ralph Sampson on the way to the semis in '79, game at BJCC.

This is great information because I would have thought the #'s would have been a little higher based on the tournament style experience. I think BAMA fans just like the idea of finishing the season with a win.
