If you are watching the TCU @ UAB games on ESPN you probably just heard what i heard. These Jackass announcers had the nerve to say that Out of the teams in Alabama they would rank the barn 1st,UAB 2nd,and BAMA third!Since when can they rank BAMA behind UAB then dare us to play them.I belive it was that A** clown Mark May saying that, then even had more nerve to say after UAB he would put TROY leaving BAMA 4th in the state!Where is he getting his info?May is a complete joke....i mean i can't argue with Auburn being first(for now atleast!) but putting BAMA behind UAB and Troy c'mon.....

If you watched...

Sports Center the last few weeks and saw the tension between Trev and Mark on the one side and Rece (Bama faithful) on the other side, it might give you a little insight.

I haven't followed

ESPN as close as usual...i watch college gameday on saturday mornings, but the ignorance of some of their reporters with no insight what so ever pushes me away from the TV and forces me not to listen to their ignorance.I wish i wouldn't have heard that STUPID remark earlier tonight because it made me FURIOUS that they could say we should be behind UAB then flat out dare BAMA to play UAB like they would embarass us or something.I am not taking anything away from UAB as they are making progress, but they shouldn't be compared to BAMA or the barn as they are not in the same league.
Thanks TIDE_HSV for the reply and info.

UAB is playing really, really good football right now, and right now we're not that hot on offense. Neither Guillon nor Pennington has performed well in a real pressure situation. We're not going to get that respect until one of them does. They wouldn't say this if Brodie was healthy. They're saying it because we're not full strength and UAB is having a strong year. It's really a reasonable assessment. I can certainly see why people are giving UAB credit this year. If we played them right now I think it would be a close, hard-fought game.

True,They are having a good performance against TCU tonight.Don't get me wrong i am glad to see another Alabama school up and coming.I do hope BAMA and TCU will face off in the near futue to show them who the real powerhouse in Alabama is the CRIMSON TIDE!

P.S.If anyone is going to be in T-Town for Homecoming tommorow,I will see you there!!RRRRROOOOOLLLL TIDE ROLL!

I will say this, if Alabama played either UAB or Troy right now, they should roll over either one. I realize Brodie and Ray are out, but no one seems to want to give BAMA's D any credit.

ESPN's crew tonight is one of its worst, and they don't have any good ones except Ron Franklin and Mike Gottfreid. And they mispronounce half the player's names.

The only chance I'd give either UAB or Troy against BAMA is if the Tide forgot to show up for the game. You may laugh at that, but this BAMA team is better than most people think. Injuries to two team leaders can do a lot to set a team back.

Just think about that UAB football tradition! Wait they dont have any! Come on gimme a break! Get in line Blazers, I want the see Miami's, the OU's, and the USC's on our non conference slate, before those guys!! :biga2:

There you go. In fact, I think that was actually ESPN's 5th string. Rod Gilmore or whatever his name is has moved around about 7 different times. He used to be in Mark May's spot.

If Bama had completed a few passes with 2nd stringers

We could well be undefeated. If this and that, but I think we are going to jell
soon and show some folks we are not to be taken lightly. Troy or UAB would be beaten by Bama at this stage and we will beat USM tomorrow. A USM team that could beat both Troy and UAB in my Crimson world.

It wasnt Mark May, it was the big white guy in the booth. I guess he is so far down on the totem pole that I dont even know his name. I will say he sounds JUST like Mark May though. Only reason I knew it wasnt Mark was they showed shots inside the booth.

The part I thought was funny was thery actually were commending UAB for selling 22K season tickets heh. Half of those were given away for crying out loud.

BINGO!!! rtrcam hit the nail on the head...

:biga: There is a BIG reason that Rodney (do you have the rest of your life for me to explain why the Pac-10 is the greatest football conference to ever play the game) Gilmore has been relegated to the "Nobody really cares games and time slots" He's TERRIBLE!!! Period...

While he was in the Prime Time slot he began or ended every statement with why the Pac-10 should be getting more respect, regardless of the story line or subject at the time. I actuall heard the guy reply with "well those other guys play defense" when he was called on the Pac-10's horrible out of conference records... HUH!!!!!

Birmingham is now UAB's town

I don't know if you guys heard them say that. They also kept on about what great offense UAB was playing... if you watched the game you say TCU tackle poorly and blow numerous coverages, on one td pass the closest TCU defender was 15 yards from the UAB receiver. I mean no disrespect to UAB but TCU has one of the worst defenses in the country this year. While certain lower tier conferences have stepped up their bid for parity with the big boys (see the MAC) C-USA has yet to do that. If you remember last year, TCU went undefeated for most of the season until they played actual competition and were promptly destroyed. Alabama may be down (thanks to essentially eight years of probation) but we have survived and are competitive in a league that would eat most programs alive. What bothers me is that ESPN (and the rest of the media) can't say a positive thing about Auburn, Troy, or UAB without taking a shot at Bama. Why? I have no idea. What do you guys think? Is it an attempt to keep us down? Not a conspiracy or anything but rather some type of infantile reaction to our success through the years. Reporters are after all reporters and negativity sells more advertising than a positive story (see Finebaum). Just my opinion sorry for the reaserch paper of a post. Anybody have any theories on this?

UAB is a good team....

....in their conference.

They do not have the athletic talent or size to stay on the field with Bama.

Hackney wouldn't find himself in situations where he has 4 - 5 seconds to make something happen. UAB's receivers would be shut down by Bama's secondary, and I doubt they'd generate enough rushing yards to make a dent.

Their D-backs do not play smashmouth. Like many in the conference they specialize in shutting down routes. On many occasions last night I noticed them using the pull-down or the arm tackle. That wouldn't cut it against Bama. Their D-line looks undersized.
