Republicans say they want free and fair elections.

That is a lie.

The Republican party and its politicians for years have been using the power of the state(s) to suppress votes they don't want counted.

And when the vote goes against them they try to overturn it, violently.

But why wait until that late in the process?

Why not stop the people from voting in the first place before they have a chance to cast their ballot?

And so they come up with laws to purge voters from the rolls without cause.

They create websites so strangers can challenge your right to vote directly, forcing you to have to prove you do have the right to vote.

This turns the law on its head because the state should have to prove you do not have the right to vote prior to removing you from the rolls.

Imagine strangers challenging your right to own a gun and then you can't until you prove otherwise.

Is the right to vote less important to these people? Apparently.

In Texas they tell voters they are on the suspended list, give them a provisional ballot (which is not counted unless you show up at the SOS office and prove you can vote, which almost no one ever does because they do not understand the process and aren't informed).

A Texas official bragged Texas would have gone for Biden if he did not purge 2 million voters off the voting rolls.

That's how serious this issue is.

And few are talking about it, and even fewer care.

Here are some links. Certainly not comprehensive.

Real citizens voting their preferences is the problem when they will vote for the democrat in the race.

They have said the quiet part out loud multiple times.

They are literally rigging elections, and have admitted to it.

And they fool their weak followers into thinking it's about vote security.

sad here in Georgia because Raffensberger and Kemp have been stretching every law to their absolute limits to try to keep us from going blue. But because they refused to go 1 inch further and actually break the law for Donald Trump much of our populace has no idea how bad these guys actually are. They hear Trump bash them and seem to think they are mostly good dudes trying to do the right thing when in reality they are only slightly less bad, they simply drew the line at committing felonies

yeah, they're just disciplined enough to keep the quiet parts quiet instead of screaming them from the rooftop.

i'm hoping it gets ugly enough where we see tough guy kemp threatening to kick someone's ass. that was freaking hilarious

With conservatives disenfranchising so many voters, is this back to taxation without representation—a friend asked me.🫣
It is a violation of civil rights and is aimed at minority voters and democrat voters.

It is election rigging, the very thing they project onto others as cover for their own civil sins.

I have a letter from the Attorney General of the state of Alabama thanking my dad for turning in voter fraud back in the 60s. Someone had been voting in Grandpa's name for ten years after he died. Don't tell me voter fraud doesn't exist. Are Dems afraid of elections with certified voters? That's the way it's suppose to be. Do you show your ID when you vote in Alabama? Sure you do, and it's no inconvenience at all.

I don't vote in Alabama anymore. I fill out my mail-in ballot in the comfort of my home and take my time to inform myself before deciding on every issue and then I drive 2.5 miles down the road and place it in the secure locked box outside the elections office door whenever I feel like it on or before the day of the election and drop off the ballot for anyone in my family who voted along with it. I later get a text that my ballot has been received and counted.

I did get kicked off the rolls one year for no reason and had to register again when I was in Alabama.

And no one ever said that voter fraud has never happened, never happens, and will never happen.

But there is zero evidence (drink if triggered!) that there is fraud enough to change any election in the last forever years. Claims that there has been are demonstrably false, based on the lack of evidence (if you claim there is fraud at whatever level then you have to prove it, not the other way around).

Glad they caught the fraudster years ago. Hope he got some jail time for it if he was guilty.

Thank you for pointing out an example from 50+ years ago. I'm sure nothing has changed since then.

So none of you have a problem with having to be a registered voter and showing an ID?
No, I have no problem with needing to be a registered voter to vote.

I don't particularly have a problem with requiring an ID, provided that the state doesn't make it overly difficult to get said ID.

I don't have to show ID to vote. I'm happy with it. I vote legally whenever I vote. There's nothing magical about an ID to prevent voter fraud. Kids get into bars all the time with fake IDs.
That is troublesome. That's the bar's problem, but they have a vested interest in more customers. They really don't care about a valid ID. The polls are meant to be impartial and accountable. Does your state require a valid ID?

My ballot is mailed to me and I never see a person if I don't want to and do not place a copy of my driver license. I stood at a kiosk at the DMV when I registered to vote but I was already doing business there so I have no idea at the moment if that was required at all when I registered. My ballot comes by mail. I can mail it back, drop it in the box, take it to the elections office, or show up at the poll with my ballot in hand.

Well, here we go:

In most cases, a California voter is not required to show identification to a polling place worker before casting a ballot.

However, if you are voting for the first time after registering to vote by mail and did not provide your driver license number, California identification number or the last four digits of your social security number on your registration form, you may be asked to show a form of identification when you go to the polls. In this case, be sure to bring identification with you to your polling place or include a copy of it with your vote-by-mail ballot. A copy of a recent utility bill, the sample ballot booklet you received from your county elections office or another document sent to you by a government agency are examples of acceptable forms of identification. Other acceptable forms of identification include your passport, driver license, official state identification card, or student identification card showing your name and photograph.

You can review the complete list of the acceptable forms of voter identification to use at a polling place when voting for the first time or call the Secretary of State's toll-free Voter Hotline at (800) 345- VOTE (8683) for more information.
