The SEC does not recognize Auburn as the 2004 national champs, this MUST be a mistake

"Winning - on and off the field of play - is another SEC trademark. Since 1951, SEC teams have won 15 national championships, including four since the inception of the league's championship game - Alabama in 1992, Florida in 1996, Tennessee in 1998 and LSU in 2003. The 12 schools currently in the SEC have appeared in 337 postseason bowl games - the most of any conference in the country. The SEC has posted a winning non-conference record every year since 1933 with the exception of one season (1979)."

Interesting stat from that article:

Auburn only returns (in players) 9% of it's rushing offense and 12% of it's passing offense. Those two figures combined, are the lowest by far in the league. That's a lot of offensive production to have to replace, it kind of puts things in perspective.

Frankly Auburn shouldn't be considered NC's by the SEC

for two reasons. First, their not the National Champs and second the SEC has an obligation to follow suit with the NC as crowned by the BCS considering it is the founding conference of the BCS.
