Trump told Russian officials in 2017 he wasn’t concerned about Moscow’s interference in U.S. election (WaPo paywall)

President Trump told two senior Russian officials in a 2017 Oval Office meeting that he was unconcerned about Moscow’s interference in the 2016 U.S. presidential election because the United States did the same in other countries, an assertion that prompted alarmed White House officials to limit access to the remarks to an unusually small number of people, according to three former officials with knowledge of the matter.

The comments, which have not been previously reported, were part of a now-infamous meeting with Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov and Russian Ambassador Sergey Kislyak, in which Trump revealed highly classified information that exposed a source of intelligence on the Islamic State. He also said during the meeting that firing FBI Director James B. Comey the previous day had relieved “great pressure” on him.

A memorandum summarizing the meeting was limited to a few officials with the highest security clearances in an attempt to keep the president’s comments from being disclosed publicly, according to the former officials, who spoke on the condition of anonymity to discuss sensitive matters.

White House efforts to limit access to President Donald Trump's conversations with foreign leaders extended to phone calls with Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman and Russian leader Vladimir Putin, according to people familiar with the matter.

Those calls -- both with leaders who maintain controversial relationships with Trump -- were among the presidential conversations that aides took remarkable steps to keep from becoming public.

I wonder, now, after all we've seen out of Trump, if BinB still feels Republicans owe their loyalty to Trump as he says they do in that article from May, 2016.



I think it was some of the things he had written here that stopped his nomination, but that's only a guess. I have been surprised we haven't heard from him here since all that went on but then I guess I can understand that too.

You're correct, Chukker.

He's blocked a lot of folks on Twitter, too.

The reality was the he really did not (at that time anyway) have the qualifications for the job he was seeking (or that Trump wanted to give him, whatever), but the real bottom line is that if you're going to be a JUDGE, you kinda have to set aside a lot of online posting because it's all fair game now. And while I think it's wrong to go after tweets someone posted when they were 16-years old, it's certainly right to hold a judge to a higher standard and besides, he wrote those as an adult.
 
Impeachment is the only way Dems/socialists/communists win in 2020. They have NO better answer for the successes Trump has had

-stock market/401k? Best ever
-economy/jobs? Best in 60 years. If you want a job you can find one
-security? Threats are substantially gone from when he started office
-he supports Christians
-US is now energy self sufficient

We obviously prefer to take the route of the Brits to disembowel ourselves in front of the entire world to the benefit of the Chinese and Russians. We leave the French, Germans and Scandinavians as the last bastions of Liberal Democracy on the globe!
