The Walking Dead is back...

Probably why I haven't heard of it is because of what channel it comes on. I don't know what channel AMC is on.

Would I be lost if I just started watching it?

Not terribly...one thing they do (and it does drive me a little crazy) is they drag EVERYTHING out. It's not soap opera bad, but they drag things out. However, if you miss one episode, you miss 'something'....so do yourself a favor the next couple of weeks and rent season 1. Watch it. Then catch up on Season 2 and start catching it every Sunday night.

AMC has been on a massive cost reduction kick of late; they've had contentious negotiations over Mad Men and Breaking Bad as well.

Walking Dead's ratings dwarfed anything the other two shows ever did, so the move was pretty surprising.

Last night was pretty bad. I'm curious what will come out of the walkers being locked up in the barn. That's my only motivation to continue watching next week.

Man you guys are a tough crowd.

What about last night didn't appeal to you? Darryl's story was pretty awesome. He turned super hick and gutted a squirrel and ate it raw right after killing two Walkers, then proceeded to cut off their ears and make a hillbilly trophy necklace. All of this after falling into a ravine and onto his crossbow. Then he nearly gets shot by his own people because they assume he's a walker based on his injuries. Darryl has turned into one of my favorite characters and it's really not even close right now.

I do think they should move on from the Sophia storyline, but if that's the only thing keeping them at Herschel's farm, then that's what the writer's have to go with. There's a reason they're at Herschel's (from a plot standpoint) and it's not to find Sophia.

I'm not saying I like everything about this season, but you can't appeal to everyone. I really enjoy the back stories & seeing how they got where they are. Seeing Atlanta get napalmed was pretty awesome. But that's just me, other people want to see Zombie's getting speared and gutted every 5 minutes.

LOVED last night's episode.

Darryl's probably my favorite character, love the way they are developing him.

My guess on the walkers is that it's family / friends of those on the farm and they're holding them in hopes of a cure.

Though I'm hoping it's something more sinister or nasty than that. hahaha

ETA: the flashback of the military hitting Atlanta was awesomer.

I think your first guess might be the correct one.

I hate the soap opera-ish crap that is going on. I hate the fact that they have spent what 3 episodes or so on the premise that they must find the little girl. End the Sophia crap and forward the story already.

Daryl is such a tough guy. His confrontation with his brother Merle will be epic (and you know it will happen as I don't think Merle is dead). In fact there is a theory that Merle will be outed as "The Govenor" which would be awesome. And with Daryl being an "orginial character" to the show and not plucked from the comics, it will be fascinating to see where they take Norman Reedus' character. Daryl is AWESOME.

Shane's descent into utter madness is truly the best thing going on the show, outside of Daryl. Like the potential Merle/Daryl showdown, I see a Shane/Rick confrontation coming and it won't be pretty for either.

The other characters are duller then a plastic knife, including Rick.

As for the walkers in the barn, I agree with the notion that they are family/friends that are being held in the barn by Hershel with the belief that a cure is coming.

The show can spend some time on character background but not this much. The Walking Dead should be about you know surviving the day-to-day battles with the walkers. The writing NEEDS to pick up.

The best episode of the series was the premier and since then it has been hit and miss since. I want more action/less talky. So I am looking forward to the prison scenes (if they chose to go that way).

I liked last night's episode, and am also one who wishes there were more killings and such. But, I've been told many times that the comics aren't all about killings either....it's about coping in a new society/civilization.

Pretty much everyone I know who watches this show, including me, really wishes it would move along. It seems like they're trying to stretch 2 episodes worth of story into 12 episodes and give you just barely enough with each one to keep coming back. This season hasn't lived up to how awesome the 1st 6 episodes were.

Right now, Shane and Daryl are the only 2 interesting characters.

Edit: loved watching Atlanta get napalmed.

The bummer is there are only two more episodes until the 'hiatus' - the final six episodes from season two will happen mid-February and March...

one show I will NOT watch when it comes back is "The Killing" That was pumped as a 13 week special, and now they're gonna drag it out into 2 or 3 seasons. No thanks.

Anyone watching 'Hell on Wheels'? I've DVR'd the first two episodes but haven't had the time to watch them yet. Might be a decent fill-in during the break...

Ahh, didn't know this - I virtually watch NO TV outside of CFB.

Networks assume ratings will be low during December so they don't run the risk of burning new episodes. It mostly goes for series on full year runs as opposed to shows who run seasons in small blocks (Half the year, for example. Boardwalk Empire will end its season in the beginning of December)
