The Way Too Early 2012 Top 25 by ESPN

That's fine. We just finished the season #1 and return several experienced and talented players. I like our chances next year.

Perfect. Three is a good place to start. I think next season will depend on how well our young guys are able to replace those great defensive players we will lose to the NFL.

better to be #3 than #1...Thar be a curse on that thar #1 ranking arrrrg. But seriously, the target on our back should be smaller than the one that LSU will be carrying around.

I'm more interested in how we finish this year's recruiting class. Some true and redshirt freshman may come in and contribute right away (Think kickoff and punt returns).

However we finish this class will just be some additional icing on the cake.

I have no problem with being #3, gives them a whole season to be #1 at the end. I was watching Sportscenter this morning and unless I was still under the influence, neither Robert Smith nor Matt Millen had Bama in their top five. Then again we are talking Smith and Millen.

we lose alot on defense especially if Hightower and Dre go pro. depending on the extent of CJ's injury we may lose him also. i know it's to early to say anything about CJ, but i'm thinking worst case here. on offense we lose Trent, Maze and Hanks and i think Smelly. correct me if i'm wrong about Smelly. but we also have Hart, Lacy and some very good under classmen at WR and with Jones coming back to anchor the Oline i look forward to seeing how the O plays out next year. the D will be talented but with all the people we may lose it will be a little young.

we were young in 2010 too, but still allowed the fewest amount of points per game (i think?) at the end of the season, so it's not all bad. We got unlucky on a few plays, but would have probably gone on to play Oregon last year if not for those plays. Saban definitely has an amazing defensive scheme.

I think we may lose Lester as well...

The difference between 2010 and 2012 is that 2012 will include guys that have experience. We aren't going to start the season with a true Freshman CB. These guys have experience.

Where you start the season in the polls is very important, but anywhere in the top 5 will give the team an opportunity to win it all.

I'm not expecting undefeated in 2012 while we reload our defense, the biggest problem is having LSU in our division it makes it a little hard to get to Atlanta. With that said it's important that we finish strong in 2012. As in not blow a 24 point lead to the Barn.

article says we lose seven starters on offense if trent goes.....huh?
Vlachos, Maze, Hanks, Smelley and TR make five; who am I missing?
