I have heard a lot of "fans" on the radio today calling for CMS to be fired, I have seen a few posts like that too. Think about the results for the team if Shula gets fired now.

1. There goes our excellent recruiting for this year. Do you think anyone will want to come and play for a different coach? Probably not.

2. Time for a new offensive and defensive scheme. Also, we lose the majority of our outstanding defense from this year, so at best we might win 3 games next year.

3. A 3-8 season next year will kill our recruiting again, so now you have wasted 2 years of recruiting.

4. After next year when our team finally starts figuring out the new systems, we would still do good to go 6-6 or 7-5, By the way I don't think that there is anyway that we beat Auburn in these two seasons, Tenn either by the way.(Well maybe Tenn in the 3-8 year, they have major problems).

5. How good do you think recruiting will be after 6-6 or 7-5, mediocre at best.
So now you have wasted 3 years of recruiting.

6. In the third year the coach will be under sever pressure to beat Auburn with the recruits that Shula got coming into this year, BUT we will still be hurting for depth(talented players)from a lack of good recruiting, so any major injuries and that year is down the drain.

Guess what? Time to fire the coach again b/c we haven't won a NC or an SEC champ or beat AU, not to mention that hey guess what, this coach sux at recruiting( I wonder why?)

So the cycle starts over again. My point is YOU HAVE TO GIVE THE COACHES TIME! Alabama will never return to prominence if we fire coaches after 3-4 yrs, we will be stuck in an endless cycle of rebuilding.

Think before you speak.

Nobody that isn't drunk or retarded is calling for CMS head. Don't worry about it, Shula isn't going anywhere.

THANK YOU!
CMS is probably the Coach of the Year. The last 2 losses only make that more obvious based on the fact that we won despite lack of depth & key injuries.

CMS FOR COY!!

More than you think

Yes, I know it sounds stupid, but those people are the the majority of what you are hearing from on the sports shows. I don't think any changes need to be made to the coaching staff. Regardless of the who is calling the plays, How many coaches design or call plays with the intention of the play not working?
If a guard missed his assignment, is that the coaches fault? Maybe if the coach isn't teaching them anything. Radar and Kines have been around for a long time. They aren't stupid. Here's a good analogy, would you rather take a cross country trip in First class state of the art motor home, or a beat up pinto with 3 flat tires. I don't care if Jeff Gordon or Dale Earnhardt are driving, you aint going to make it in the pinto. Unfortunately the pinto would be an improvement, b/c I think we are trying to do in on a bicycle w/o a chain. Give 'em time and soon we will be cruisin in luxury. You have to have the tools to be successful. The coaches aren't the tools, the players are.

Now, let's look at this for a sec. The people calling your sports shows are probably too stupid to operate any device more complicated than the touch-tone pad on their phone. Most of them sound like they have a cheekful of cud and you can almost hear their beer sloshing around their empty skulls.

This is why I hate talk radio in Birmingham. They are all competing with Finebaum to get everyone stirred up on the issue of the day. I was furious last week when Kelly what's-her-name stated that if Bama doesn't beat Auburn then Alabama fans would start asking for his head. Not one of the other two shrunken heads commented on how foolish that would be or how much good Coach Shula has accomplished this year.

Better to feed the frenzy of idiots than to point out facts like without the stability of this coaching staff we would not be 9-2; like based on even their own pre-season predictions, this team played the entire year ABOVE their heads - due to coaching; like how the loss of two key players only shows that we are still way behind the rest of the conference in quality backups.

Not to rattle on but my point is after Matt and Jay are off in the morning, no one out there seems interested in seeing another solution besides calling some heads to roll and it makes me sick that so called 'fans' call in and fuel the fire.

Granted, I listened to all of 10 minutes of talk radio today because I got my belly full early so some of these points could have been made and I just missed them.

Yep, to bad there isn't one place on the air where we could listen to positive comments when things are good, critical points when they are called for but most of all, support for our Crimson Tide especially at times when it is also called for, oh and hosts who aren't afraid to hang up on idiots when they start negative comments about coaches and players. Hummmm maybe Tidefans could...guess not.

Oh well this is why I am on line and not listening to the radio I guess.

My point

I like listening to the shows- sometimes, I just get frustrated when these coaching geniuses call in a say, we should have done this or that. They want to blame the coaches when in reality, maybe we just aren't that good. Now don't get me wrong, those first 9 games were great. I think we played way over our head though. We should have handily defeated Ole Miss, but instead of seeing a lack of offense, we saw that amazing final drive(It was GREAT). Utah State, when you think about it we should have beat them at least twice as bad as we did. Miss St. its easy to overlook the lack of production on offense when your defense and special teams take them out of the game in 5 minutes.

Kinda makes ya wonder how much "Kellie" or whatever her name is & all those other so-called accents of toothless wonders make for placing those suspicious lil calls... GREAT image for the south...

Amen to all those who disagree with firing CMS... however, there are a large number of UA supporters who want to see something done regarding some of his position coaches (especially OL). Right now, we are very similar to Auburn in the year that Campbell/Williams/Brown were juniors. Problems offensively made Tubbs change OC (bring in Al Borgis; spelling?). The result? Things got better in a hurry and AU won the SEC and made a run at a NC. Our program CANNOT afford a head coaching change right now... however, if there are not some changes made within our staff (either personnel or philosophy), we will suffer some long-term consequences and CMS might lose his job in two/three years because of his unwillingness to make those changes.

I agree with you guys.

There is no way a true Bama fan could be looking for CMS to be out at this point. The only pieces of that team that were there proir to his arrival were Brodie, Demeco, and a couple of DB'S. Everyone else is coached up or recruited by he and his staff. True the O'Line needs a crash course on blocking assignments and the art of blocking to create a pocket and lanes so the QB has room to operate, but these things can all be addressed in the coming year. Shula is certifiably safe.

This is a sham post /thread. I have heard absolutely no one call for Coach Shula' s firing...sheesh.... :conf2:

I agree comepletely...I've listed to talk radio all day and haven't heard anybody go that far...prob UT or TAMU fans...he's not going anywhere and it would be rediculous if anybody wanted him gone...he's obviously got things going in an overall positive direction...he doesn't need to get fired, but he's still got some major improving to do in certain areas...it is possible for fans to call for the latter without implying the former...RTR and good luck to CMS, the staff, and the players for the Bowl

Well who exactly do people think would fire Mike? There was certainly no sign of it earlier tonight via Dr Witt or Mal... And ut-oh, there was even talk bout so many other subjects than football or sports in general... >GASP<

Excellent points. The LAST thing anyone needs to be thinking about is firing the coaches.

This is what I've tried to tell everyone. We are blessed with an excellent bunch of coaches now.

It's stupid to even think of this.(e.g. last Penn State wanted to get rid of JoPa, but look at them now).
