All are miscellaneous excerpts from TexAgs.

Wife and I left midway thru the 3rd quarter...I can't believe we went in the first place, especially because we gave a whole Saturday to be with our 3 month old.

Of course, the only reason we went is because we still had tickets attached to our two season ticket "perforations of moolah"

WHAT A JOKE. Watching that mess was unbearable. 3rd and 20 from the shadow of their own goal-line and Meyer scrambles for 23....SEE YA, our *** is outta there.

I'm already planning on what to do with an additional $750 in our pocket next year....this team BLOWS.

I left early. First football game I've ever left early in my 4 years here. If I didn't have so much hate riding on the next one, I would sell my sports pass. I'm #$@##$ sick of this no fire, no heart, support us BS. Hard to be the 12th man when they don't even have 11 down on the field.

Actually, I turned the station and watched a pretty good Florida Game.

Wake me up when you get back from never-never land. Thats the most absurd thing I've heard all day.
We made a mistake. Maybe we shouldn't have fired RC, maybe we should have. BUT, we needed to have a serious coaching search if we were gonna make a move. We didn't, we have gotten burned, and the program is probably set back for a decade or so. The sips could be entering a new period of dominance like they had in the 1960's. They're on a roll and we're a national joke.
"no doubt RC had to go"

I'll call that one

last night I said there were 4 programs that thought their coach had gotten too old and the game had passed them by....Penn ST, Fl St, A&M, and Nebraska

2 programs made changes and two didn't.....is there any debate which two programs made the right call and wich two made the wrong call???
All I can say is "Thank you TAMU for 'stealing' Fran from us!"

When Fran was our coach, I was impressed with him. But as time has passed, most of his "act" has been exposed to be marketing. His website, his pseudo-CEO demeanor, etc. The last couple of years were painful, but that makes this one all the sweeter. Good riddance to Fraud!

Coach Fran is a little like Lou Holtz. He offers a nice, brisk change of pace from a previous regime that had grown stale. The corny motivation schtick (to the players) and his general eccentric nature and personal quirks (to the fans) are all embraced and loved in the early days, but get really old in a hurry if the wins don't follow. And he always seems oblivious to the circumstances unfolding around him.

It'll interesting to see how Bill Byrne (the AD) handles this. He's fired just about every other head coach down there. However, he bailed out on Nebraska to avoid having to confront the Frank Solich situation, leaving a dirty mess for his successor. And I don't see it getting any better for Fran soon. They probably won't win again this year (road dates at Texas Tech and OU, before the season finale with Texas). Every team in Big 12 south including Baylor seems to be getting better expect the Ags.

It's just really, really funny.

Longhorns Consider Themselves Better.....

......than anyone else, therefore, the students are called "tea-sippers", or for short "T-Sips".

They really believe all the other Texas colleges/universities are below them in everything; but especially the Texas A&M Aggies......they totally look down their noses at them!!!

You will often hear Fraud's Boys refer to the sippers!!

I have noticed that as well. He has the same excuses for the most part. His game plan is a Master Plan, and he won't change it, even in the 4th. I remember Ags talking about running the same plays and schemes down 77-0. I guess when you have made the Perfect Plan and the Perfect Move you just stick with it.

Now Aggie is ticked off cause they are on TV with Tech. The #1 Pass Off in the nation against the #115 Pass Def. I wonder why they aren't looking forward to that?

ROB K - you have it! Thats EXACTLY right!

Fran would even "rehearse" in front of a mirror for these ridiculous
CEO-manner-speeches & public little motto's etc. Yep - he is quite an organizer & detailed paper-work kinda guy of military ambiance ...all very convincing when new to a school. And if the team HAPPENS to be winning - then he gets the credit...BUT - when they're not & he is then exposed as the not-so-good COACH afterall...well, you know the rest.

EVERY DOG SEES HIS DAY!!!!!

What happenned to Fran.

I have tried to forget the horrible experience of Coach Fran. Seems I remember that he was a winner everywhere he has been with the exception of whats going on now at A&M. I just imagine the national exposure of how he did our players will always follow him and never allow him to snooker another team into really believing in him again.

Capstone, you don't have to imagine...it's a done-deal. Fran's known as a "marked man" now, thanks to how he betrayed our players, lied to them & to the university & even lied to the psuedo-friends he'd tried to fool in Tuscaloosa with lies & "smoke & mirrors" "clever" web-pages & cute-sy events/gatherings & speeches & mottos, etc etc etc ...AND then the media had a hay-day with all he exposed himself to be: he's got NO respect in the world of college sports. His players at A/M know what he's all about - and now it's showing...

PS - "He's " not a winner of a coach... he is simply a good "stage-manager" for what APPEARS to be a good program to optimistic fans...He is, however, very detailed, organized, & precision-minded in a military way...very rehearsed & is full of hidden agendas...when he's won, it's been due to some good staff-coaching of men who once also believed in him...(note the keyword there: "once"...). When people stop believing in someone & lose that ole respect thing, then everything goes downhill sooner or later...

Untrustworthiness Manifested

The man is simply not worthy of trust. Football players read newspapers. Watch television. Listen to radio. They give interviews with sportswriters, who share information and ask for reaction. Every one of the players on his team know exactly what transpired that December.

They may listen to him. They may do what he asks them to do. But they do not trust him and they won't lay it all out on the field for him. That is manifested in the team's performance. If you can't trust and believe in your leader, you just aren't going to succeed. You just aren't.

Franphoney was going to do well at Alabama. He put up a 10-win season and nearly knocked off Oklahoma and Georgia in 2002. He'd beaten Tennessee and LSU by whopping margins that same year, and shocked Auburn in 2001. There were serious and legitimate questions about his recruiting acumen, especially with regards to interior linemen. But there was no reason not to believe that a few years down the road, he would consistently compete for SEC titles.

What the man failed to realize was that it wasn't all about him. It was all about Alabama, and he was just a part of it. No man is bigger than Alabama. Leaving the program was a disastrous mistake, but how he did it was even worse. He knows it wasn't all about him now, and his team can't trust him for how he treated his last team.

It's like watching a Greek Tragedy unfold on the stage...

I think that is the Aggie perception, but I've always looked at it from the other side. The Aggies have such an inferiority complex (actually it's not an inferiority complex, they realize they are an inferior school in comparison to UT) and they are very jealous of UT's success over the years. In many ways they are much like the Aubs; both having been Agricultural schools.

I Drank the Fran Kool Aid

Gallons and Gallons of it! I think when I look back that he did give us a good season (once) and who knows if he had stuck it out with the trust of those players it might have turned out differently-He just got in over his head. He was awed by the power of the Bama coach's position in this state and don't get me started on that prissy wife of his. I don't delight in his problems at T&A&M-the players are hurting there as well and we do remember how our guys felt after that whole thing went down. they bought the jet fuel to come and get him and I don't have an ounce of feeling for the powers that be at Aggie land. I do feel for the players and the fans. They saw an Alabama coach coming to revive their program. Little did they know he wasn't an Alabama coach, he was just a little man with a big ego out to make a name for himself. RTR

Anybody know why the Aggies call Texas fans "sips"? :conf2:
THE University of Texas is "high-fallutin". :) The enjoy tea parties and what not. :)

They also refer to University of Texas as TU, since it is THE University of Texas.

Tea-Sips is actually slowly phasing out with the generations, especially since aTm is pretty much the same costs of tuition.
