Today's Question: What's your favorite quote, and why?

Man, I can't choose one.

But, to go against the grain, I'll go with my favorite comedic line in television...

"You're lucky you've got looks, Marge." - Homer Simpson, to Marge after she tried to tell him that the greyhound he bet on, named She's the Fastest, might not actually be the fastest in the race. The announcer calls out, "And there off... and She's the Fastest starts with a big lead!"

It's easy to grin when your ship comes in and you've got the stock market beat. But the man worthwhile, is the man who can smile, when his shorts are too tight in the seat.

--Judge Smails

For some reason this one just coos to me.

A herd of buffalo can only move as fast as the slowest buffalo and when the herd is hunted, it is the slowest and weakest ones at the back that are killed first. This natural selection is good for the herd as a whole, because the general speed and health of the whole group keeps improving by the regular killing of the weakest members. In much the same way, the human brain can only operate as fast as the slowest brain cells. Now, as we know, excessive drinking of alcohol kills brain cells. But naturally, it attacks the slowest and weakest brain cells first. In this way, regular consumption of beer eliminates the weaker brain cells, making the brain a faster and more efficient machine.
That's why you're always smarter after a few beers.

You didn't credit Clifford Clavin with the quote.

My personal fave from CCC.
"It's a little known fact that smartest animal is a pig. Scientists say if pigs had thumbs and a language, they could be trained to do simple manual labor. They give you 20-30 years of loyal service and then at their retirement dinner you can eat them."

Interesting fact about John Ratzenberger... He's the fifth highest grossing "actor" of all time (source), primarily due to his work with Pixar.

A favorite quote of mine: "I love Jesus, but I drink a little." Gladys Hardy on the Ellen Degeneres show.

I'm a fan of Robert A. Heinlein:

"There is no worse tyranny than to force a man to pay for what he does not want merely because you think it would be good for him."

"The human race divides politically into those who want people to be controlled and those who have no such desire."

Grok that?

My favorite from Heinlein:

"The meek shall inherit the earth — in plots about six feet by three."

What kind of uh, hazards are you most concerned with? I work in an office now, and while the level of risk is a tenth of what it was working on aircraft the safety office representation seems to be ten times what it was when the job was dangerous. It has gotten ridiculous:

Gotta watch out for those paper cuts!!
Honestly, safety is serious business and many do take it too lightly. Most accidents are caused by unsafe acts; obviously, we all should take notice. But, some safety regulations/procedures are so overboard that it makes it difficult to compete in today's business climate. Common sense is a great attribute and should be to rule of the day.

He who knows not, and knows not that he knows not, is a fool. Shun him.
He who knows not, and knows that he knows not, is a child. Teach him.
He who knows, and knows not that he knows, is asleep. Wake him.
He who knows, and knows that he knows, is a leader. Follow him.

Also, "Do not speak unless you can improve the silence".

I know that it is generally attributed to him, and certainly sounds like him talking to Norm, but from what I could find out, that is an urban legend.
I could find no reference to what episode it came from or where it came from in the first place.

I want to say I saw the episode. Now, did I really see it and remember it or see the quote, agree it sounded like Cliff and conjure the memory from 25+ years ago???? Good question, but I want to say I recall seeing the episode.

I definitely saw the Cliff on Jeopardy episode. Three people who have never been in my kitchen indeed.

saw it on a church sign 20+ years ago when I was in college and feeling sorry for myself about some things that had gone wrong recently:

"Hard times make you bitter or better...and you get to decide which one."

It was exactly what I needed to see and is a motto I employ even now with great personal satisfaction.

My favorite ones are:

"If you believe in yourself and have dedication and pride - and never quit - you'll be a winner. The price of victory is high but so are the rewards."
Paul "Bear" Bryant

When you make a mistake, there are only three things you should ever do about it: 1.) Admit it 2.) Learn from it, and 3.) Don't repeat it.....

My favorite lines out of a song ever.
