Is solid resume enough?
While we don't have a flashy resume in terms of wins over top 10 teams, our resume is solid. A win over MSU and our RPI should be near 30. We are 2-1 vs. ranked teams, and have several wins versus NCAA trny teams like winthrop and xavier, as well as non-conference wins against decent teams like OK and NCSt as well as Iowa. We have three neutral sight wins and with a win over state a few road wins. Like I said not flashy but solid. The real question is what will the committee look at the most this year. Some years it is #'s (RPI, 20+ wins, .500 league mark, decent sos), other years they seem to disregard these numbers in favor of a good story(primarily mid-majors who get a lot of press leading into Selection Sunday, and teams who finished strong in their last ten games). It has been proven that success in the last ten does not=success in the trny, however it is a factor. Bama will be about 5-5 or 6-4 the last ten so to me this is a non factor. Ithink a win at MSU with one win in the trny we are in on paper, But we will need all the smaller conference trny's to go as expected. Upsets in these trny's could lead to some smaller schools receiving at large bids, limiting our chances. One thing is clear: Lose to MSU and we will have to win the trny.
