I’m less of an expert than you but I could tell their technique was horrendous. Absolutely no leverage. That OL coach was worse than Marrone by far.
Technique and strength are the key factors. You need bulk also, but too much of it affects mobility, quickness and technique. Jaeden Roberts is our strongest player. Probably was our best blocker in 23. Knowing your assignment is vital.

Jess had him at LT, and McVay at RT. That said, I think a LOT of guys will get looks across the board, and expect we'll see a lot of combinations and movement through spring
He revised it since Proctor and others left. He originally had Pritchett at RT. This is what I copied and pasted to my notes. He updated it the 18th. I last looked at it the 17th.

So talking to an Ohio state fan neighbor and he said that Ohio State thinks their QB room is to full right now and are not really interested in bringing him in. So if reports are true (not saying they are but are out there that we chose Mack over him and now Ohio State doesn’t have room you have to wonder what going on). He has way too much talent for two teams basically saying thanks but no thanks. There must be something else going on here. USC now sounds like the favorite.

He's 6'2, shorter than most OL. That accounts for a little of the low weight compared to the taller 6'5 guys. But also I hear he has a lot of strength for his size.
And he played, started last season for Washington as a freshman!! How much weight can his frame handle without losing speed and agility?? We will have the pleasure in finding out!!! :)

This guy is the #1 ranked IOL in the portal. He's spent a year in this offense with the HC, OC, and OL coach. He knows how to call the assignments for the OL. This is a great pickup.

He will probably bulk up some, but the rest of the OL may very well lose some weight to make them quicker and more agile. And there's no doubt their technique will improve. The OL coach is regarded as one of the best in the nation.

Maybe he will come back? Seriously, I know that players can pull themselves from the portal, but have any of our guys done that? Seems like most of them conveniently already have a school lined up to ink with almost immediately after declaring. Also, he entered on Friday and it’s the weekend.

Day does not want to run off Air Noland, so he told him that he was considering offering Sayin. Apparently Noland was fine with it - welcomed the competition. So I think that he will get an offer. But he will not be guaranteed the job.

Two great QBs…that’ll be tough to manage.
Good problem to have…

bulk helps in resistance to being moved, too much is worse than not enough. You still have to be able to move quickly

He was great, as was Pendry. Saban built his dynasty on the lines that those two men built.
Preach! I’ve been shouted down in this board for making this point. The regression started with Cristobal. That’s when we started the trend of hiring great recruiters who were decent coaches. Technique, especially on the OL, started to suffer.

Kyle Flood was good or the talent of the 2020 OL was extremely good.

last decent line coach was Stoutland
And as you can tell, Stoutland is a well respected at his trade. He was originally hired away from us by Chip Kelly when he was head coach with the Eagles, then retained by Doug Pederson when he replaced Kelly, then retained a second time when Nick Sirianni took over. The guy can flat out coach.
